Great video Jay. you mentioned other brands using Cordura fabric in there pants. The Canis alpine pant is listed as a double weave Cordura stretch base fabric, with coolmax liner and kevlar re enforcements in high wear areas. The alpine light lists a 4 way stretch Cordura. would love to see some real world, non influenced feed back on the Canis line.

Would have loved to have seen a section talking about water resistance/how quickly they dry out after getting wet as that is one of the main things i care about in hunting pants. I generally prefer a lighter pant so they dry faster after busting through the dew covered brush all morning or if a small storm comes through.

I thought the same thing when I was editing. Definitely a miss on my part. I would speculate the Ascents dry quicker.

Excellent. Review! I’ve wanted to like the dehaviland pants but they just don’t fit me the way I want. The Ascent pants look comfy. But in truth the KUIU pants fit me the best. Love them all.

I am running my Sitka knee pads in my DeHavilland and they fit perfect! Also I agree with you side zip take. That is why I run ascent pants for early season and DeHavilland for late season.

Nice review - the face fabric for the cirque series is a Pertex product. The pants being high waisted is actually really nice (for me) under a backpack belt since they stay up, but I could see that being annoying for some, good to note.

I am a carpenter and a hunter, last year i switched to running stone glacier pants for both work and hunting. I have been daily wearing De Havilland lites and regular DeHavilland pants for work, the lites pill badly, but i have yet to rip them. The knee pads are great, as someone who is climbing ladders, kneeling down, always moving, they do not get in the way and stay where you want them. The lites are still pretty warm for summer, but are fine below 65 degrees. I also have the SG 206 pants, and kuiu tiburon, both are much better for warm weather, but don't have knee pads. I really enjoy the belt system, as it doesn't interfere with my tool belt or pack and is easily adjustable. The side zips, while not as polished as kuiu's mesh, when the weather is 40 degrees in the morning and 75 by noon, they are perfect to dump heat. The biggest draw back to the regular De Havilland pants is that they are loud, the lites are much quieter.

Thanks for the info. So in summary, the lites are quiet but pill, the non lites a noisey but don't pill. I'd like to buy the lites but excessive pilling is a concern. I see the fabric differs between them. Lites: Nylon 89%, spandex 11%, Non lites: 50% polyester, 43% nylon, 7% spandex. So perhaps the inclusion of polyester helps stop pilling. How are they all holding up now? Another question; how do you find the Tiburon, specially their stretch. Im always looking for comfortable hot weather pants. How does their stretch compare to Dehavilland lites which when I tried them on have an excellent feel and stretch.

@@obikenobi1906 Now that summer is here, i haven’t been wearing either the dehaviland lite or regular. I been wearing my sg 206 or the kuiu tiburon. Those two are the most comparable, i find the stone glaciers have more stretch/flex, but i upsized the tiburon so they are a looser fit for summer. Both are great, but i feel the tiburon are more durable but i prefer the fit on the stone glacier, especially with their contour waist system. Overall, you cant go wrong with either, and i think both have their place in what i wear.

I use both these pants and like them both a lot. Although I feel like the ascent pants would be more comparable to the SG 206 Pants. Good comparison though

I specifically looked at the SG due to their hip vents. FL has some decent vents too. I have the traverse and timberline but needed something in the middle that vents better. Too bad no Sitka pants have vents.

I own the lites and my wife has the ascents. I’d compare the lites to maybe the apex pants..? Although the apex pants are no longer I think they are an unbeatable pair of pants. They’re super quiet not like the Stone glacier DH lites. Those are soooooo loud. They’re my first piece of SG and I will admit I love them I just don’t wear them while bow hunting. Apex are dead silent. The ascents are a happy medium very very light pant but I get by with my apex system from September to January here in NM

One more note. It looks like Sitka’s Intercept Pant is using the same knee pad manufacturer that SG is using. I’m not sure about the durometer though, but the new Sitka’s are great.
