Same for me! They are a lot easier than other aquatic plants because they get their nutrients from the water and not from the soil and they are also really hardy! I have an Anubias nana that had grown a lot, I could even propogate is twice as it had grown babies. In another tank I have two Anubias berteri, which are the prettiest in my opinion. I also like the Anubias congensis, I have that one too. Anubias are relitively expensive aquatic plants, most aquatic plants are about €3 here but the Anubias are about €6, but a plus is that you usually get two plants in one pot!

Coleus is my favorite plant for indoor or outdoor. This spring I had a big box store give me a flat of 24 dead or dying coleus.I was able to save most of them and I gave them away as gifts and had them in my yard. I have 3 of the original ones still but I took cuttings, and I am enjoying growing them. So I don't think I will ever need to buy coleus again.

You're welcome awesome. Love your attitude twords house plants that are not as popular, and those that are.... of course! I've learned a lot from you in the past couple years. I'm not killing near as many plans as I was in the beginning. My grandmother showed me a lot about house plants and garden plants when I was young. Then a few years after she passed I started indoor gardening again, however my husband at the time was very abusive and loved to kill my plans. I even had a heart leaf philodendron that was over 20 years old from my grandma. I'm back into house plans, I live in a small apartment, and we are not allowed to have plants outside the apartments in the complex. Thank you again for all you do for me and others. It sure has brought my self-esteem up from where it was years ago. God bless! Tracy

The beautiful epicia that you have has special watering requirements. Do not get water on the leaves or they will die. It loves a humid environment and is perfect for me in a covered bowl garden. I am an African violet judge and have just started expanding to other Gesneriads. Truly underrated! Love your videos, great cinematography and trustworthy information.

I have a giant coleus - which I learned the name of in this vid! It turns a gorgeous purple with hot pink veining in the summer with just the edges that pretty lime green. It fades a lot in the winter, but still remains a bit purple. I gave a cutting to a friend, and hers went from a wee little 6 incher to several feet wide and stringers galore within 6 months, and basically plastered itself to her south-west facing window. Such a lovely plant and easy-peasy to care for.

Transition your siderasis fuscata pulled slightly back from a Northern window in dappled light & you'll be amazed at what happens. Mine says hi & thanks for making her famous! 👋🌱 Pellionia are a joy to grow but I've found you need a really good moisture holding medium with a pebble tray or lots of other plants surrounding it for increased humidity because it will crisp up on yo big time.

Eye keep one pulled away (2.5 ft) from an east facing window & it gets a bit of light from two grow lights that both 2 ft away from both its left & right side. Some terrific and interesting choices. I agree that coleus are super houseplants. Just take some cuttings from one’s garden towards the end of summer and not only do you have a colorful tropical houseplant all winter but in the spring you can take cuttings off of it to plant outside and the cycle can go on indefinitely. As you noted the modern hybrids do tend to need good light to maintain their amazingly colored foliage. ~ I grow my Gasteria outside in full sun. It gets red around the edges from the stress but otherwise seems quite happy.

I love this video, I only have the Pelionia Repens, it was a rescue I found from Lowe's and I absolutely love it, at first I thought I was going to kill it, but I had to realize it was a rescue, and had a rough start, but it is thriving so far and is an unusual little plant that I would have overlooked if I hadn't just taken the challenge. If I ever run across a brown spider wort I will pick it up for sure, it is a beauty. I'm also just getting good at growing succulents, and keep picking up ones here and there, and the ones you shared if I run into them I will pick up also. Thank you so much for sharing this video, it was so helpful and informational, and I really like that. See you in your next video, bye for now.

I Love coleus!! Typically I buy a six-pack in the flower section once they arrive in sping and then pot them all up into 4" containers each and put them everywhere and/or give as gifts. Then in winter I'll cut back a bouquet of stragglers and water-root them and then pot those up in a 6" container and wait for Sping again. AND often I will look at "houseplants" in the outdoor or shaded areas of my garden stores, and often I can find the same plant for half the cost and usually in a gallon container; and another benefit is in California, they have to list the botanical info if it's an outdoor plant as oppopsed to just listing a common name for houseplants (if they even do that). I wish houseplants here had the genus and species name. Excellent video.

I wrote them all down. I have space in my north facing window, but problems growing plants there. My plant book read that grape ivy thrives on neglect so I bought one. I love my coleus plants they start out outside in the summer. When I buy them in the spring I always take as many cuttings off of them as I can so I don't have to buy multiples and spend all that money. there's one thing that I think they absolutely love and that's a product called soil moist. I know Lowes sells it and so do some gardening centers. They're little crystals that absorbs 50 times their weight in water. I think they keep the soil from getting soggy because they absorb the extra water and hold it what's in the crystal until the plant needs it. In fact if I forget and put it in pots that had the soil moist in last year for my coleus outside after a heavy rain it sometimes looks like I'm growing clear chunks of Jell-O in my pots.Sequoia seems to love the fact that extra Waters there and they don't dry out and start to lose leaves. At the end of the summer of my coleus are always over for high and very bushy. I also think the soil moist crystals help keep the soil for becoming compacted. with the expansion and contraction they help to aerate the soil and keep it Loose for the roots. I use it outside in my outside garden every time I plant flowers. The company says the crystals can last maybe after 5 years. any cutting I have does much better when it's in soil that has these crystals added. He has to be careful not to drop any of the crystals on the ground I called Creator on your floor because they can get wash down by your feet and make the Surface slippery. I love this product I think it's the best invention for gardeners. I learned about using these crystals from the man who used to be on PBS in the spring when they had a fundraiser. He said to get a pamper a disposable diaper and pull it apart and use the powdery stuff in there in the hole your tomato plant is planted in. That you said if it had a little tinkle in it from the baby that would just add some fertilizer for the plant. what I found with the polymer that's in those disposable diapers is that it gets slimy the crystal stick together because he would want little chunks of crystals falling out of a disposable diapers that got a hole in it. The soil moist crystals are difference in that they don't stick to each other they stays separate. I did take a pamper one time put the inside stuff in a plastic shoe box it absorbed I don't know three pounds of water I think so I don't use Pampers anymore my tomato plants I use soil moist. Try some soil moist and with your potted plants and you'll be amazed at how much better they do

It's very hard on my tablet to try and edit so please excuse anything that doesn't make any sense I think it didn't put the correct word when I said concrete in my previous reply. thank you so much for your wonderful videos I appreciate them. I don't have cable TV so I useKZfaq a lot to entertain myself and to learn instead of watching useless things on TV

I love Collius so much you never hear about it but I'm obsessed they are so unique, I've actually experimented with propagating it and I have gotten literally just leaves no node root! I had them in there many for looks bc I accidentally cut or knocked them off and I went to toss them the other day bc one was all dried up and to my amazement it had tons of roots reaching into the remaining water I rarely changed, I'd been meaning to toss em n hadn't gotten to it... now I'm happy I didn't lol! My favorite Collius I have is the wizard rose one that's also the one I was speaking about with propagating. Just stunning, they are the tiedye wearing hippies of the plant world so many different types, such a fan. All of mine are grown indoors with a east facing window (I do keep em as close as I can to the windows) they do fantastic despite being an "outside" plant. However I do avoid some of the ones that call for brighter light like the bright lime green and yellow one I forget the name.

The one that rooted was a different leaf from the dried up one. It was definitely alive!

This is the video I needed. My polka dot plant is not doing great and my prayer plant is starting to get a little bit of brown on the edges of its leaves. I have not given up on my first two plants, but I would like to get a third or fourth that are easier to keep.

Wow! I have an east facing lake Michigan window that gets a lot of light. My balcony gets tons of direct light during spring summer. The colius? Is perfect for me inside during winter and outside during other seasons. Thank you so much! And that aquarium plant I love it and going to find one this weekend! I like underated underdogs 😊

and I love coleus plants very very much. there's so many different colors I want to collect them all. I usually have trouble keeping them alive during the winter except as cuttings in water. this year I have a Southwest facing patio that's has sliding glass doors. I have the whole doorway blocked with plants and my coleus are beautiful pigeon Jeff bugs I didn't die like they usually do they didn't lose a ton of leaves but I think the big key isn't the light but the fact that I have a humidifier going and it's always 60% humidity or more and I think that's the key to keeping coleus happy.

I'm growing coleus from seed. Super easy to germinate but once sprouted they grow so slowly. It's been weeks and they're only just starting to grow true leaves. Cant wait to see what colors I've got.

I have 2 of these: 1) Gasteria "Little Warty" which I bought at Ikea this summer. Since then, I've started to see it here and there in plant nurseries. And 2) Pellonia repens. I thought it was interesting looking. It hasn't really grown for me yet, but it's still alive. I almost bought a Coleus a few weeks ago. I sort of regret passing it up because the store that had it, doesn't have it anymore. I'll probably have to wait until Spring.

I have taken mine out of the aquariums (where I had them about ten years) and they are way happier now that I have put them in high humidity terrariums. Much bigger too!

My boyfriend and I are newly obsessed with plants, and he LOVES Coleus. :) So many gorgeous colors you just want to collect them all! I'm the same with Begonia Rex plants, I have one currently but if I ever find more I'll snatch them up quick.

I really like that siderasis fuscata, I'm a sucker for a fuzzy leaf and the water plant is a great idea too. I have a marimo moss ball and although it's very low action I still really enjoy it. It also seems to be very forgiving if I forget to change its water.
