Tilemachos Pouliasis and yours truly are performing my guitar duo transcription of the "Sixth Station" from Hayao Miyazaki's film "Spirited Away", composed by Joe Hisaishi.
Filmed in Brussels at the KCB in June 2017.

Wow! Absolutely masterful performance of this haunting and gorgeous song. The Sixth Station will always be one of my most favorite and cherished songs. Thank you for this amazing performance! Like countless others have commented, I am also utterly blown away at how incredibly you were able to recreate all of the nuances and emotions of this magnficent song. This is hands down my favorite cover of this timeless song.❤

I don't know what to say... You guys are amazing. You were able to reproduce each part of a song that is really hard because follows a different style. Joe Hisaishi doesn't work with theme songs, he works with feelings. "The Sixth Station" is a feeling. Feeling about the growing pains, about despair, about fear... You guys were able to reproduce all these feelings with an amazing perfection. I' m almost crying!!! PERFECT!!

Well done! It can be incredibly difficult to create the desired effect and feel from the original piano arrangement on the guitar with transposed pieces like this. Bravo!

I really wanted to complain about you playing it too fast but while listening to this I just realized how stupid I am to think I make a difference somewhere just by talking bad about stuff. Когда я слушаю такие вот композиции у меня возникает только один вопрос. Почему в моей музыкальной школе педагоги не спрашивали: "Есть ли у тебя любимая музыка? А давай подберём." Нет, давали только классику, и никакой возможности. Понятно, что есть база, понятно, что тогда не было интернета и ноты было трудно достать, только если на слух подбирать - записывать. Но я помню как я пересматривала этот мультик в 10 - 11 лет и мечтала играть эту композицию на отчётном концерте. Уверена, что детская мотивация разучить эту пьесу была бы куда более сильной, чем разучить "сладкие грёзы" Чайковского (безусловно гениальные, но столь избитые)

Какой непростой вопрос возник у Вас, Виктория! Пытаясь ответить на него (надо ли?..) скажу, что виной тому могли быть старорежимность и/или ограниченность педагогов. Ну и ещё, может, лень и страх, нежелание быть гибким и отойти от привычной методики и репертуара. Чайковский, конечно, замечательный композитор (хоть и не мой любимый), но Джо Хисаиши ничем не хуже. Да и вообще, что это за музыкальный фашизм такой? :-) Чайковский, мол, хорошо, а Хисаиши - недостаточно хорошо? Знаете, мне один раз задали вопрос на экзамене по дирижированию - почему взял пьесу Хисаиши (я выбрал главную тему из фильма "Hana-Bi" - "Фейерверк", очень красивая музыка, да и есть чем подирижировать - характер, темп и размер меняются), а не того же пресловутого Чайковского, например. Я попытался ответить доступно, но понимания не нашёл. Довольно скоро из того ВУЗа я ушёл. :-)

Спасибо за развернутый комментарий) Да, все причины "почему не" с возрастом становятся понятней, но от этого, безусловно, грустно: чтобы быть счастливым и делать то, что нравится/любишь в России приходится сталкиваться с непониманием, которое выражается в вопросе: "А зачем тебе это нужно?" (это не призыв вступать в дискуссию на тему "кому на Руси жить хорошо" :D, нет, просто моё виденье, кажись, простых и очевидных вещей, но в которых остаётся большой гнёт старорежимности и по сей день)
