+Sean Bagshaw Hi Sean, what about sizing and sharpening for display screen on tv and pc monitors? I assume you would want full size? Everyone seems to forget that method of output!

Question: Part of my workflow in Lightroom is to sharpen and then lower noise. Often photos are selectively sharpened as you know. Do you use these sharpening methods for the web "in addition" to the normal workflow, or are they mutually exclusive? Thanks for your videos!!!

Great tutorial! i do have one quick question about localized sharpening. Could I do my localized image sharpening at full resolution with a masked high pass filter and then apply these web sharpening techniques to the image as a whole? I would love to hear what your thoughts are around how to integrate web based sharpening with localized sharpening during the image editing process. Thanks in advance!

Hi Martin. Yes, you have the right idea. You apply localized sharpening to the full res image during your creative developing process. This can also be thought of as creative sharpening and it could consist of a variety of techniques to get the image feel you want. You might sharpen fine details in some areas to make them stand out. You may sharpen or increase clarity of textures or contours. You might even decrease sharpness in areas to deemphasize or create a feeling of depth. Then output sharpening is completely separate and is specific to the type of output. In the case of this video I'm demonstrating sharpening methods for web output. Output sharpening for print would look different and be dependent on the size of the print as well as the printer and paper type.

When and where do you set you watermark Sean? :) I usually do that from the export dialog in Lightroom, but you tend to use Photoshop. Also, what font is that you are using in your watermark? :)

Nicklas Winger - When doing quick web exports from LR I use the LR watermark feature. In PS I have recorded my own actions that place my watermark on my images (different actions for different web sizes/orientation). I have these actions programmed in to the programmable buttons in the TKActions Panel. After running a sizing/sharpening action in the panel, one more click runs the action that puts my watermark on it. The font I use is called Engravers Gothic.
