+yajo891 Jews have been isolating themselves from the people around them for thousands of years, and built and preserved their own culture and tradition. In addition, the jews typically never married to people of other races, so their genes are fundementally different than, say, your genes. The Jews are a people, a "tribe" so to speak, and thats why we wanted a "State for the Jewish people" while no one ever asked for a "State for the Islamic/Christian people". Because unlike them, Judaism isnt just a religion.

If you don't support abortion, if you actually use the effort to CARE what someone else does with THEIR bodily functions, you belong nowhere. It's the same with smoking pot. If i smoke pot, how in the actual fuck does that affect you ? If i get an abortion, how in the actual fuck does that affect YOU ? People have gotten so comfortable in today's society that they get to formulate stupid, meaningless opinions. How about finding a cure to cancer instead of worrying about what i do with MY body, not YOUR body ?

6:55 - "if it's a threat to the mother's health..." Point of clarification: you don't get to use the word "mother" when discussing aborting. "Mother" is an acquired status and it is dishonest to extend parental identity to a person refusing to allow a child to be born by conscious, destructive action. The reason the abortionistas use "mother" is because that word provokes sympathy in the listener--they're playing both sides of the field and they know it.

Scientifically, as a scientist, it's completely arbitrary to say sperm isn't a potential life, yet right after the moment of conception that is a potential life. That's an argument of semantics and belief. You have to be adult about it. Abortion isn't a pleasant thing that anyone takes lightly, but we have to maturely and objectively decide when it is or isn't ok to abort. Obviously it should be done as soon as possible, and for good reason. Late term abortion, if the mother or child's health is at risk, it should up to the mother to decide what to do. It is her life in danger, it is her responsibility to grow the child. No rational, scientific, mind could argue that is wrong.
@Thorerx8 жыл бұрын
It is not arbitrary, sperm is a haploid. A zygote has its own unique combination of DNA. There are HUUUGE differences. If you really are a scientist you know this. It is not in the least arbitrary. What other possible point do we say that it is now a human being? When it's born? That is pretty arbitrary. How about when it has its own unique genetics, we call it what it is; a member of our species.

Living and human are two different things. Plants are alive but killing them is not wrong in any way. Also living and sentient/conscious are two different things as well. We can argue that jellyfish are alive, but they have no brains thus they feel no pain. Killing them, though it may seem morally wrong at first, is not the same as killing a cat, or a human. Embryos have no nervous system or brain for a very long time. Whether they live or die makes no difference to them as they are not yet experiencing anything. What they will experience however, is a shitty life if they're forced to live that. Bad parents, unwilling parents, and parents that can't afford to have a child, will likely produce this for them; probably better to save the embryo that trouble.

That abortion discussion was hard to hear from both ends. If the requirement to be classified independent life is to be just be cells then ethics become a nightmare. The over used example of course being that jizzing sperm into a sock would be murder. At the same time though, this girl just ignored any actual point he made such as the idea that pro life people aren't against women controlling their bodies, they believe that abortion is murder! And she didn't even consider a decent idea of when life would begin. The fetus is certainly alive before its born. Quite frankly, I believe we should consider the starting point to be the opposite of the ending point. It's a misconception that life and death is determined by heart function, really the key is Brain activity. That's why people who go into cardiatic arrest or flailine in the hospital can survive. All the heart does is pump the blood, which is still very crucial and loosing this for a bit can lead to death, but only because the lack of blood flow would cause brain death. It actually kinda bugs me that so many people don't question this assertion that the heart is what directly means life when we don't have the ability to bring back the dead but we can restart the heart. Just because your heart stopped doesn't mean you can brag about dying!! Sorry that's a pet peeve I have, oddly specific I know. Honestly, I'm pro-choice, because as I think as long as there isn't brain activity going on its no more killing a baby than a condom. I know some people disagree, and that's fine, but I think as long as we can ensure that the fetus isn't alive by medical standards and that point is the cut off for being eligible, then it should be within the bounds of Individuals ethics and beliefs and wants as to whether or not to have an abortion. The truth is that unwanted pregnancies can cause a lot of problems and can even reduce quality of life for parents and the baby if they weren't prepared for one. If abortions can prevent people and babies from being stuck in poor conditions the same that condoms did when they reduced unwanted pregnancies, then I see no actual issue. However, this does open up a whole new discussion about the reproductive rights of both parents should one want it and the other not. The woman should likely have the most say in as to keep it, seeing as how the nine months of pregnancy will affect her far more than the male. But what reproductive say so does the male have, if any at all? It is his genes too, but it's first and foremost the females body. So perhaps the ruling would just be that if he wanted a baby he should have knocked up someone who wanted one too. Another point towards planning pregnancy.
@troliskimosko5 жыл бұрын
so at what point do you think brain activity is achieved? until we can determine the exact start of brain activity, the only safe option is to just assume that there is brain activity early on and that we have no right to abortion. Of course, you also can't say that brain activity starts at birth, cause then it would be perfectly reasonable to assume that aborting a 9 month old baby is absolutely fine. The issue with your argument is that you say that we must count something living if it has brain activity, which makes sense from the most basic way of looking at it, but then of course we have no idea when brain activity starts in a fetus, which just melts the whole argument. Except, as I have just found out, brain activity starts after 5-6 weeks. Welp, out goes that argument

This is my own opinion. Abortion should only ever be used in cases rape, the mother's life is at significant risk, or there is extenuating evidence that the child will not live. Those are my beliefs. I believe we must take responsibility for our actions. The moment you have a child growing inside you, your body is no longer your own.
@jackjon77638 жыл бұрын
I used to agree however. Steven hawking is one of the most intelligent people alive and today he probably would have been aborted because he would need more care than the average child. And it takes a minimum of 2 days for the mother to be prepared for an abortions so medical emergencies are not a viable reason. Because I think of an emergency of a immediate life threatening thing not something that is potentially deadly after a couple days. And for the rape victims, we don't punish the children of murderers or serial killers or rapists. So why punish these children. If anything let the child be born then put up for adoption, because you don't know who that child is it could be the next Steven hawking, or bill gates, or the president, or a famous actor, or a criminal. But he hasn't had the opportunity to live and make his decisions yet so we can't punish someone who hasn't done anything wrong.
@jeffreyschwartz89388 жыл бұрын
My biggest reason to defend the choice to abortion is that some people just don't see it that way, some families cannot afford to have one member be out of commission for a couple of months towards the end of the pregnancy, along with the cost of having the baby, I feel like a more apt questions would be, does he support scientifically accurate health education/free contraceptives to people who cannot afford them. It is wrong for people to be punished, and the way it is phrased it certainly sounds like one, if they have been feed wrong information, abstinence only sexual education, and then expect them to make well informed choices.
@mareofstature8 жыл бұрын
jack jon I understand where your coming from and even agree the first part regarding the dangers but the rape victim (and it MUST be proven rape) I just feel the effect of the birth would only traumatize the victim more than what they already went through. I'm not saying they absolutely must abort the child but the option should be on the table in that case. +Jeffery Schwartz I completely disagree i'm sorry to say. I believe they should pay price for their actions plain and simple. I support birth control, condoms and what ever new thing they have these days. But they should know the risk of having unprotected sex and if they foolishly commit the act then should pay the price for their ignorance. Now I am not going to say that the birth family must raise the child if they don't have the means to support it then it should be put up for adoption.
@jeffreyschwartz89388 жыл бұрын
+Reiter Jack Though I see no problem in what you say, I still feel like the bigger problem is that many people, especially in the United States, are not told about all their options, and cannot make well reasoned choices. Another thing is that you make it seem like baring the child should be a punishment, ie. they should bare the child and that will teach them to have unprotected sex. I feel like that isn't a good attitude to have about this sort of thing, it makes it sound like you are making them have the child to spite them, and that doesn't sit well with me, though I can certainly understand how some might be ok with that, I just don't really like the idea of a child as punishment for something that people aren't informed about.
@mareofstature8 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Schwartz I don't mean to make it sound like a punishment but ultimately it is. Once that child is conceived then he or she has the right to life regardless of the mothers wishes. And how old do you need to be to know sex=children? Hell I knew that before I was even interested in women. Unless the situations I mentioned before happen then that child should be born. This is my belief nothing more. ***** Unfortunately you're right. But the biggest thing I don't want is some woman walking in saying "I got raped!" and proceed to have the abortion. No I want them to go forward and get the investigation going at least before they are allowed to even consider it. Believe I know first hand what a bitch can do by falsely screaming rape. My older brother's "friend" told him and her boyfriend that she was raped. Now my brother being the idiotic good soul that he is took it upon himself to beat scare the tar out of the guy she claimed raped her. That same guy pressed charges on my brother and his group ending with getting five years in prison. For assault and kidnapping. Now the fun part is when his "friend" was asked by the court if she was raped she denied it. I know my brother is an idiot but I can't help but think that if she had come forward the sentencing of my brother would have been more lenient.

***** So full disclosure I actually looked at numbers after I talked and realized blacks and hispanics account for more abortions the poorer they get, so I'll take back my stupid comment about not being able to afford abortions. That was wrong. That said, the poorer white people get the more they get abortions, so perhaps its about more than just being a minority? Also, I'm just trying to figure out if you hate minorities because they have more abortions or because they have more children out of wedlock despite having the option to abort? It's hard to figure out considering that Mexico for example is extremely strict on abortions and birth control given it's Catholic influences. Does that make it the fault of Mexicans or white people given the Catholic church is white? Also exactly where are the facts that communists just want black people to be thugs and use welfare? If you could give me a link or a book or something I'd actually be interested in seeing those facts. Finally small note, Hispanics don't all come from Mexico and Central America. There's this place called Spain just full of them, and believe it or not they don't have the same culture or the same problems.
