Bohemia - located in the heart of Europe, the region is rich in culture, silver, and sprawling castles. The death of its beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, has plunged the kingdom into dark times: war, corruption, and discord are tearing this jewel of the Holy Roman Empire apart.
One of Charles' sons, Wenceslas, has inherited the crown. Unlike his father, Wenceslas is a naive, self-indulgent, unambitious monarch. His half-brother and King of Hungary, Sigismund the Red Fox, senses weakness in Wenceslas. Feigning good will, Sigismund travels to Bohemia and kidnaps his half-brother. With no king on the throne, Sigismund is now free to plunder Bohemia and seize its riches.
In the midst of this chaos, you're Henry, the son of a blacksmith. Your peaceful life is shattered when a mercenary raid, ordered by King Sigismund himself, burns your village to the ground. By bittersweet fortune, you are one of the few survivors of this massacre.
Without a home, family, or future you end up in the service of Lord Radzig Kobyla, who is forming a resistance against the invasion. Fate drags you into this bloody conflict and shoves you into a raging civil war, where you help fight for the future of Bohemia.

I think they should make more scenes like that in video games. While I do understand the ''game-like'' aspect of war (epic scenes, blood, glory and whatever), war is also and mostly about innocent people being slaughtered, whole towns getting torched, traumatized survivors. I won't get mad and yell at people for playing war games, I do it too, but a bit of realism here and here is good to grasp what things really are.

I absolutely agree the over the top almost fantasy style of games like AC has become less and less appealing I want to see historically accurate gritty dark and with all modern "correctness" gone. I want to look through a window into the past not a fantasy.

Historically, medieval armies tried as much as possible not to engage each other's as battles get bloody real quick. So they just invade and pillage undefended towns and villages for loot, resources, and food

I was so immersed in this game, when the troops appeared over the horizon it was genuinely terrifying. So well done.

Boy, the dialogue between Radzig and Martin takes on a whole new meaning after the first playthrough. Basically the dad and stepdad arguing about their kid’s future.

5:57 Kunesh, the man that had lost everything in life, became a drunkard to ease the pain of life. He may be miserable but he was no coward. He was ready to defend his motherland against an entire army. Man has my respect.

Replying to a year old comment because why not. He was probably scouting out Radzig's loyalty and stopped off to tell Sigismund he was still loyal to King Wenceslas. Do that way King Sigismund could commence with the raid
