Adam silver let the league get destroyed. These causal fans don’t understand how much of an advantage it is for players being allowed to take 3-4 steps on the perimeter or paint. Being able to take 2 steps before you dribble the ball. Being able to carry… all while the defense isn’t allowed to handcheck or be aggressive. This is the equivalent of going into 2k settings, turning off certain rules and putting the difficulty on pro. I used to love watching basketball games. Now it’s simply a joke

I made that point to a co worker a couple weeks ago about them getting away with more steps nowadays puts the defender in even more of a bad position to be able to defend properly. The NBA is on a vicious downward spiral. The players: start to suck. The League: "Let's make things easier for them to pad stats so at least they look good on spreadsheets." The players: suck even more. The league: throws in even more "goodies" to making things "exciting". The players: turn into crying babies. They also added more gambling condiments to spice things up. WIN.

Adam Silver needs to be fired. Being the Commissioner of the NBA, the biggest and most powerful Professional Basketball League, also means that he is the de facto guardian of the sport of Basketball. As the guardian of Basketball, Adam Silver also has to promote and spread the game far and wide. He has to protect the integrity and overall health of the sport; just like Kenishaw Mountain Landis did when he took over the MLB after the Black Sox scandal. Ever since the removal of Donald Sterling as the owner of the Clippers, what has Adam Silver done to improve the game...nothing. All of the things that Magic, Bird, Jordan, Kobe, Shaq and the other superstars of their respective eras have done to grow the sport is being undone. For that Adam Silver has to go!

The refs ruined it for me. The fact that there are no longer grown men in the league, just childish cartoon looking clowns is a close second.

Players today are getting massive deals with Nike and all before they even prove themselves in the NBA. I mean ofc I'm gonna be lazy and not try that much when I'm making millions upon millions for stuff other than my on court play like endorsements at the age of 18 or 19. MJ said it best: "Back when I played, we weren't getting these deals and endorsements until we proved it on the court. Today's players are already getting endorsement deals before they even prove themselves in the NBA. It stops them from trying hard and working hard whereas back then we used to have to work hard and prove ourselves before we got these rewards"

Watching the countless podcasts of "3 random NBA fans" will explain a lot to us "old heads" about how anyone could enjoy this terrible modern NBA. These podcasts are just 3 random kids, spouting off stats to identify "greatness" and then coming up with as many dumb NBA 2k scenario superteams, missing the entire point once again about competition and excellence. They don't comprehend sport at all. They look at who fills up stat sheets and who the media champions as "great." This is how and why an entire generation of fans can celebrate meaningless "accomplishments" by LeBron, and cheer for dumb superteams instead of growing greatness organically. An entirely lost generation of fans.

Today’s NBA, I pretty much only watch the playoffs. With the ESPN+ app, I’m able to watch the Euroleague games in the US and the Euroleague is more competitive, physical, and fun to watch than the NBA. The atmosphere at Euroleague games is much more euphoric too and the fans really get involved in creating an intimidating atmosphere for the visiting team. Thank god for KZfaq where I can watch clips from 90s NBA to reminisce.

The women's college basketball elite 8 between Caitlyn Clark and Iowa vs Kim Mulkey and LSU is going to generate more ratings tonight than possibly any NBA PLAYOFF game this post season. The "multiple streaming" excuse doesn't seem to effect the NFL or women's college basketball circuit. So why the NBA?

Great video. Well said. I’ve been pretty disappointed in some of the content creators trying to just slide into their dialogue, “the skill level across the board is just better than any other era, no denying it.” The thing is, that might work on a person that never saw games in the 90’s. For those of us that watched the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s, as well as today, you can’t tell us that the defensive effort and skill level is the same, and you can’t tell us that ,outside of 3 point shooting , the total skill set is better than it was in previous eras…. The palming and extra steps now really make the handle look inferior. The defense today is disinterested at best. Players that handle the ball the most have awfully high turnover rates today, despite being allowed to carry and travel. You can find examples of these traits in any era, but it’s hard to find games today that it ISN’T obvious.

One thing about players legacies is what changed in the game when they were the face of the league. During Lebron's reign as the face of the league the flopping, load managing and not playing defense got out of hands to such extent that the league has made rules to prevent the first 2, and I hope they'll try to fix the 3rd one as well.

When I was teenager in the 90s, the NBA was the best thing that we had. Every game was competitive, and every play counted. The NBA front office and this generation of players, led by LeJuice, the greatest symbol of entitlement and poor self awareness, simply sunk the league. Now it's the worst american league. In the meantime, the NFL and NHL just work. They're fun.

One word: LeBron He embodies literally everything that's wrong with the league. He annihilated (perhaps beyond repair) the competitive integrity of the league - and it's gotten to the point where his influence on media is palpable and coercive. But I'm hopeful Wembenyama can restore the competitive integrity of the league, something LeBalco completely destroyed. The NBA will only recover once LeBalco is gone. He has two of the lowest finals TV ratings of the past 40 years according to the official Nielson report. He is an overrated narcissist who the league has been artificially pushing into our faces against the will of the fans who see right through the propaganda. He is nowhere near MJ and it's a tragedy that the NBA has traded it's soul for a guy with a losing record in the finals, a perpetual flopper (literally cheating the game), who can't win without at least two other past, present or future HOFers on his team. Pathetic. The NBA won't recover until this cancer retires. Lastly, he's also the biggest PED fraud in modern American sports history and people will pretend like it's not happening despite the reams and reams of evidence. IF and when a real journalistic entity is willing to publish the article that Victor Conte claims ESPN blocked from a journalist that had been covering Lebron James for 6 years and was about to release a scathing expose on Lebron's PED use. Backed up with legal documentation. The fact is Lebron is a PED fraud; he travels religiously and flops. He formed super teams (again cheating the game). He colluded to bring FAs to his teams via Klutch Sports his de facto sports agency. The fans can see the game for what it is, empty spectacle. Ratings bounced back in the mid-2010s because of CURRY not Lebalco. Kobe was the last TRUE monster draw in the NBA. Everybody else is playing catch-up. #OnlyWhenLeBalcoRetires

If the NBA wants to improve viewership it's gonna have to bring defense back to the game. The NBA reminds me of back when I was playing basketball back in highschool and college and we played pickup ball in the summer just to stay in shape. It wasn't real competitive and anyone from school could hope in and play even if you weren't on the team so you could imagine how uncompetitive some games were. That's what the NBA reminds me of. It's just not fun to watch.

Here’s a conversation I was just having with a friend during this NCAA Tournament. If basketball players were so much more “advanced” athletically and otherwise you would clearly see it at the highest level of NCAA games as well, since this is the main feeder league of the NBA. But you don’t. We’re not seeing anything “more advanced” out of the players in this tournament than we see out of a tournament in say 1992. Why do NBA players appear “more skilled” to the untrained, casual eye? Because they’re allowed to get away with unprecedented levels of traveling, carrying and double dribble while the defensive effort is at an all time low. You don’t see those things at the NCAA level. At least not nearly to the same degree.
