Thanks for this video Mike! I've been looking at the Skar for awhile now. The PRV seemed brighter, but the Skar had more depth and sounded better as it got louder. With tweets, I like the Skar much better.

I think it really comes down to what music you listen to more, I personally liked the skar better when it had the tweeter ran with it the prv had a bright sound which made it sound rich but I feel the super tweeter is what is supposed to make that sound not as much for the mid.

From what I'm noticing w/ all PRV speakers you've tested is that they focus on the speaker's relative high range & less on it's low range. Looking at the SPL charts, PRV also spikes a lot in high range, but has a major suck out in the mid to lower range of freqs. In this comparison, I would pick the Skar. 8 inch speakers are supposed to provide a good amount of focus on mids & give some bass extension. Just get drivers for higher mids to highs IMO.

As a midrange I like the Star better, the PRV sounds better because it’s brighter but I don’t really want that in a midrange, that’s what tweeters are for.

I've had both. Skar has a flat but overall clean sound. Prv has higher midrange/ok midbass clearer vocals. Add an eq to the equation in either scenario it will sound good.

the skar really impress me though mike!!!!!. it has less frequency range, but when u add the tweeter you cant tell the difference... thumbs up to skar!!!. they are both good. with the PRV being a bit higher with the highs.

I wish skar made a good solution for us BMW/MINI guys. The npx8 is closer to fitting under the seat, but we need a little bit shallower mounting depth. That and the RP600.5 would be perfect to cover just the stock locations, just wish it could switch to higher low pass to run mids there. EDIT: I have the TX4 in the stock surround locations of my Paceman. They barely squeezed into the front and had to put fresh door card clips, and in back I had to cut holes and make a cup to seal away the quarter the used closed cell foam to enclose the area between the trim and body. I've used EVL65 D-4 wired to 1 ohm and a sealed .5 box with a SK-M5001D that all fits snug under the false floor. Really just want a clean low key system that doesn't intrude into the interior. All this sounds great, but mids are severely lacking due to only having underpowered 4" speakers ran off the stock head unit to rely on for mids. Can't even hear the stock underseat subs anymore.

Mike I have skar fsx 6.5 in rear doors and kicker ks 3.5 sin dash and audio legion slim neos to go in floor panels im biulding. I have 8 skat fsx to go in the front doors with my vx-1st skar super tweets. My question is im thinkin of putting orion cobalt instead of 8 in. skar fsx would u go orion cobalt 8s or skar fsx 8s? On a new orion hcca 1000.4???

Prv too bright for a mid. Maybe good for someone not running highs. Owned them both so I speak from experience. In a complete system, the skars have a more complete sound when crossover and equalization is set right. Prv for big spl builds, skar for SQ. Personal opinion.

actually the PRVs are midbass. I actually have 2 of each. The PRVs pushing midbass and the the Skar pushing high mids. you wouldnt believe what they can handle without distorting

I'd say the Skar Audio Mike. It seems to have not only more depth but I could hear some instrumental in the song that Prv didn't catch. Prv is good and due to it's higher frequency response it seems a little brighter.

Ya but getting really loud and sounding good is great, except when someone wants to listen at low-moderate volumes. It's a trade off. Watching now again, 3 years later, and the Skar sounds better but needs a tweeter that is properly crossed over.

I love their 8s so can’t wait for my 4 10s...yess!! Should I wire the 10s at 2 or 4 ohm is the question..? Prob 4 I assume

@@c.s.8749 I did and they are mega loud. Amp runs nice and cool. Loud speakers at 4ohm and sub at 1ohm. Both amps are rated according. My zvx18v2 on 2k rms at 1 ohm is getting nastier by the min..long ass break in time..

I'm looking for 8 inch mid bass for my bmw. I have subwoofers in the trunk so I don't need the deep bass just mid bass. There is not much room in the stock location. Have you sampled any neyodium magnet speakers? Skar audio npx8 is the only one I've found that will fit so far but I'm open to any suggestions if anyone has any

@@bryanfigueroa3 I did not I have a trunk sub and use a dsp unit to set the frequency on the under seat oem woofers to like 160 to 300 I think. And turn the volume down on them bc they don't sound good at those frequencies lol but it adds enough volume to blend together with the rest of the system for a full sound. More of a band aid than anything else

If your getting a mid bass then you are looking for bass not highs or it would be called mid highs..lol. I wouldn't thank you want a mid bass with more clearer highs it defeats the reasoning of a mid bass. Isn't this the reason they invented Tweeters. Lol. The PRV is like buying a bass coaxial speaker. But I guess if your not going to use tweeters then go with the PRV.
