The crashes and fails aren’t glitches. That’s one of the best parts of the game. Although it actually is pretty glitchy

I remember how excited I was for the first Skates release. I can't believe that was over 10 years ago now. Still my favorite of the 3 to this day. I put days worth of play time into this series. The memories, nostalgia is bittersweet.

Great review. There are 1 point I did feel was missing though. No mention of the dynamic soundtrack, If you put the music to "Interactive Mode" the game will constantly play music that changes depending on your Multiplier, This feature makes landing tricks that boost your multiplier up to X2 or X3 feel even cooler. Also this may just be me, but that zoom in on the logo's around the place was a bit too quick, It made me feel a bit uneasy. I do hope you get to review Skate 2 sometime. It's my favourite of the two i've played, Mostly due to the more realistic, grounded gameplay, the open map and the more realistic impacts in Hall of Meat. Trust me when you hit a rail with your head at speed, you're going to feel it.

The use of "Skate or Die"'s soundtrack was on POINT. BTW, Skate 1 is my favorite, with Skate 3 being the silly cousin, and Skate 2 being the underrated little brother

The map and story mode in Skate 2 are MUCH better but Skate 3 is smoother, has a bit more moves and hardcore mode. If there was a way to play Skate 2's map in Skate 3 I would never need another game LOL.

I had a Skate 3 skateboard deck made by armadillo. And it was a good deck shape deck. I know I shouldn't have skates it as it was 013/300 of the first run in orange but I need a deck and I used it. My friend who got it still has fresh 069 and 199.

Skate 2 is goat, 3 just had no structure or purpose. Not a “bad” game, just doesn’t hold up because of the cartooniness. We need a skate 4 that goes back to the realism

t-willz-nz I think its important to understand the market around skateboarding games. It makes complete sense for ea to put skate on the backburning for a while considering they were making consecutive releases without any huge technology jumps. There also hasnt been a single respectable skate game to have been released since skate 3. Ea had to give time for the market to build itself back up since its not as large, but i believe its still large enough to make another game on. And honestly how hard would it be to make a new skate game? the hardest part of it is making the physics, which they have a TON of experience with by now. It makes perfect since for ea to release a new skate game or something like it nowadays.

Idk why but I really like this style of graphics mixed with this type of physics. Feels almost like it was ripped straight from a rockstar game and looks like it would go well with a game with midnight club la or gta 4. The physics are what make the game fun but the graphics are so simple yet still good.

Hall of meat is actually a real thing that the Thrasher skateboarding magazine covers, so it's not necessarily the gameplay choosing the challenges because of the bailing, but more the bailing system is set in place to compliment a feature in the skateboarding world. In the real world its not people hurting themselves on purpose, it's just people falling attempting tricks, but this is a video game so they had fun with the idea. And your point on how it seems their PR is just skateboarding, yeah that's kinda all it is in the skating world, of course there's merchandise sales and advertising, but it all just comes down to skating in an attractive way to pull people into your brand.

A great game. Ive watched a few of your vids now, and i dig em. But i will say, here, what you refer to as “glitching” is actually by design. If you enjoyed the game, i recommend returning and giving the hall of meat some time. I prefer skate 2’s version over all i reckon, but yeah, check it out.

I have this game. you can play your own music on this game. You should have checked or done research. Its a decent skater Sim just like there is to simulator racing such as gran turismo this game is also in that same aspect but with skating. I liked all 3. But 2 will still be the best one.

I think Skate 2 was better, it also has some problems but the map beeing seperated in to 3 parts was a mistake in my Opinion. In Skate 2 you could do a whole line across the Map wich is impossible in Skate 3. Skate 3 just feels like a EA game, not finished and in some skateparks the obstacles are random placed...
