What I always loved about this show and All in the Family was the visual/non-verbal. Archie could give that look about something and I would split a gut. Same with Barth Gimble when Jerry does something silly or the guests do. They don't have to say a word.

Yeah, he had quite a career doing TV theme music and in many small acting roles. To this day I laugh at his basset hound expression completely incompatible with his billing “Happy Kyne and the Mirthmakers”. Gotta be Martin Mull’s doing.

The cool part about the 70's was there were enough of older actors who could put us, the younger generation, down. The best part, it was done to annoy us, but we found it ok to laugh along too, cause we knew that we were just as hopeless people as our mom and dad s were.
