i skateboarded as a very young child and credit carded my lower back doing an ollie off a picnic table. i was all alone and it was the first time i ever winded myself. i was like 7. flash forward, been biking ever since. im 28 with super bad back problems from that accident.

I worked in the bicycle biz for 20ish years. I was being 'cool' on my fixie. Looped out and caught myself before busting my ass. Unfortunately, my lower back had other plans.. Best wishes for the future.

The hand plant once landed was epic and the thumb jam definitely didn't look comfortable at all Spencer. Although I do have a skateboard, I have zero skills on it and much prefer the relative safety of 2 wheels and handlebars. Great video though.

Catching yourself with your hand like that can also fracture your arm/wrist. I broke both my arms doing exactly that on two different occasions. I jumped off a foot and a half tall ledge and landed on my feet but caught myself using my hand like that and fractured it pretty good.
