…aside from the fact that my shocks are absorbed now?
recently got the random idea of trying this again and i‘m shocked (no pun intended) how much better skating feels now. what‘s your take on this?

for me raised heel with shock is a must-have. flat boot even more. just feels so much more natural standing slightly on the front part of the foot kinda somehow :D but at those all-day sessions, it's just such a relief for the feet and knees .... especially with 92/95a flat setups and rumble-bumble floors. as we have many beginners in skating I always tell them to put in even two shocks in one boot because it prevents a lot of this "feeling of falling backwards" movement

Yes I skated razors SL for 3 years without shock absorbers now I have them my skating feels so much better on grinds. My feet feel in the right place

I skate SLs as well. I like shock absorbers in general but I feel like the SLs are too high. I bought 2 pairs of DEAD absorbers which are very thin and stacked them on top of each other, adding a bit of epoxy between 2 absorbers. I really like how they feel.

Flat boots for awhile and just recently noticed that raised heel is the natural stance for soul and topsoul tricks cause you get heel lift in flat boots so now I always have a shock absorber or 2 in my skates. It fixed blank skates for me. Aeons are great too cause it’s raised heel and all shock absorber

I think you were given the wrong advice. A shock absorber actually allows you to down size even more, not the other way around. Cause when you lift your heel your toes retract.

It would raise the instep though. Not necessarily a good idea when trying to downsize

@@rollforever_85 I would argue it makes it better. Most people struggle to fill shells (as they are designed for the average foot + a buffer for a more mass market appeal) so by pushing your instep more into the shell you’re actually getting a more snug fit and potentially less heel raise. It depends on the foot shape of course but if you have a regular foot this can be beneficial.

@@pablosskates7067 I have problems with many skates being too tight on the instep.. I guess it just depends on the person‘s foot and boot in question. That’s why I said “not necessarily” xD

Looks like a lovely park to do some chill skating. I love having a shock absorber in my skates. much more comfortable and my heels love me for it as well. Thanks for the vlog. It's nice to hear your thoughts on skating.

Thank you very much for this video, I tried to put back my shock absorber tonight at my local skatepark and it really help me to feel better on my skates. I had trouble with my topside and it definitely help. I thought it would be to much to have heel raised skates + shock absorber. But it’s the opposite, it’s great.

Good point, on a flat heel boot it can also be achieved by having a thick shock absorber (like on the SL). Never skated without a shock absorber since coming back, whether it was on raised heel or flat heel boot. On raised heels I just had that intuition wedge as additional height. Loved that royale to ao fish with the foot kicking over the rail! So smooth!

I found the shock absorber to be beneficial in reducing pain in my heels, especially in carbon boots. I feel sturdier as well with more weight on my toes/ ball of foot. And great skating dude. Was that a savannah to ao christ Makio at the 12:30 mark? So smooth! Keep it up!

I always found that a shock absorber actually helps when downsizing a shell. The lift in the heel kinda pulls your foot back a few mm and gives a little extra space

i think the reason it didnt seem to work for me is because i have a fairly high foot and it was pressing on the top, now it definitely helps

I didn’t know about the better stance for topsides but it makes total sense, thanks for this. I have raised heel boot, use a Fp insole under the intu’s with the intuition shockabsorber. The Fp’s make a huge difference, we all use them overhere.

Short question, no insoles in your intuition liners, only under your liners? As I currently run insoles in my 909s, no shock under.

Would never skate aggro without a shock absorber. I know raised heels make it harder to use them, but the added protection it gives in most situations landing from any height is something I wouldn’t forgo. Glad it’s working out for you 🙏
@twgskate
@twgskate 6 ай бұрын
i don‘t think it‘s hard to use them on a raised heel boot actually, it was only because of the downsizing issue. for some reason having my heels up that high helps a lot having a good stance and foot position :) i wouldn‘t recommend anyone skating without shock absorbers anyways simply because having a bruised heel is the worst
@that_which_is_not
@that_which_is_not 6 ай бұрын
I’d agree with you, I’ve always freeskated too. A lot of people I know don’t like heel raise as they predominantly come from aggro. When companies release a skate without considering a shock absorber, I feel it’s not a true aggressive skate 😂

Hey there! I just wanted to say a huge thank you for consistently delivering fantastic content and sharing valuable ideas with us. I've been eyeing your pro-model skates, but I had a rough experience with the Sway All-Star 2000. They were just too stiff and lacked the lateral flex I'm used to with softer boots. Currently, I'm skating on the Aeon, but even with those, I struggle to strap them tightly. Could you tell me how the flex of your pro-model compares to the Sway All-Stars 2000? I'm really curious to know. Thanks again for your amazing work!
@twgskate
@twgskate 6 ай бұрын
i honestly didn’t have a problem with the allstar and the lateral flex, it was enough for me as far as i can remember. although i also only skated it for the couple of days to film my part of the promo. in my opinion my skate has further lateral flex than the allstar. it definitely helps skating it for a bit as the material gets softer as you skate it, not much though.. i don‘t know if that helps at all, but the flex thing was also the reason i made this video as the heel raise helps the lateral flex of your ankle

So do you have an absorber on a liner and the sway absorber together, or only the liner? On your question I cant skate without absorber. It just makes my feet hurt. Kinda this is why I sold my 5th elements. To much lean with absorbers, but hurt without it.

real skaters need shock absorbers. which is why a raised soul plate is redundant and only serves to be compatible with out dated tech. once i found usd carbons/ frees and sebas, there was no going back to plastic stilts on skates.
