In this episode, we will take a closer look at knitting edges. Often our SKEINO customers would ask me how this is done best. In this short knitting tutorial, I will show you how it should not be done and how you can improve your edges when knitting.

I agree with Jacqueline. You are the Knitters Angel. My edges are so untidy and big loops on each side. Thanks for sharing this big secret. As you mentioned at the beginning I never knitted the first stitch as I followed other knitters advise and the knitting looked clumsy and out of shape. Thanks to you I will have lovely edges on my grandsons sweaters. Thanks for sharing and caring. 👍👍👍💕

I know this is an old video, but i have to say thank you. I am new to knitting as of this week. I am ready to tackle my scarf. I am going to use the Garter stitch since that is what I am comfortable with and I knee their had to be a trick to clean edges. I like the Garter stich because both sides are the same and I would like that look on a scarf. This is awesome. Ready to buy my scarf yarn and get to it. I bought some cheaper yarn for practicing this week. I am picking up knitting much easier than I did crochet for some reason.

Do you also use the same method if knitting stocking stitch, please. I am 66 and knitted about 60 of those years and I am still learning, adapting to the new methods for faster knitting. It is wonderful, thank you. Your suggested program of future videos sounds great. Videos are needed so this and crochet doesn't disappear.

The way you knit that last stitch is actually how I knit purl stitch in general, so the neat ends just come naturally. You can try it out, it looks the same as a purl stitch would look like.

I've been looking through your tutorials to find help with the laura shawl. I think this is the WK that you have in the pattern that had me stuck, so thank you. Also, for any future classes, I normally don't have any significant tension issues but when I change colors in the round I tend to end up with either gaping holes (relatively) or really big stitches. can you help with that in a class, please?

If the pattern changes from a garter stitch border to stockinette for the body it will roll just by nature. Your best bet is to wet block it if it's wool, or steam kill it if it's acrylic. Please let us know if there anything we can help you with! You can always reach us by email as well.
