@Becky Tregear Art I struggle with blank page syndrome, too, lol. My husband told me he was going to open the book randomly and just scribble with a pen. It'll no longer be new and precious and that should make it easier for me to start. He laughed at the face I made lol.

Thank you! The worm farm ended up being one of those pages that I thought was going to be really silly but actually it looks alright in the flip through, haha! I think messy sketchbooks are more fun than ones which are all pristine - so I tell myself as I am incapable of keeping them neat, lol. I hope you have fun with your book!

Thank you - yes I love that it's a time capsule, particularly this book which had a lot of things inspired from life at the time, and the lockdowns etc. I'm already forgetting what those were like, so this is a good reminder that we had such a strange time in the world for a couple of years!

All of the others were fine, and the pages held up well to everything... except some "liquid watercolours" that I have in my stash, which have proven to be more like alcohol inks and soak through everything! 😱

​@@rayne6737 I agree, but we are fighting a battle here, because so many ArtTubers show only their perfectly finished 'sketchbooks', which are beautiful in their own right, and enjoyable to watch. In fact, these 'sketchbooks' aren't sketchbooks at all. They only show a finished piece of work, never the ideas and their progression to a separate finished art work, the playtimes, the 'messy sketches' , the doodles, the 'what-ifs', the experiments.... In fact they never show the things we see in (for example) Becky's sketchbooks. Encyclopaedia Britannica. Definition of 'sketch': "sketch, traditionally a rough drawing or painting in which an artist notes down his preliminary ideas for a work that will eventually be realized with greater precision and detail. The term also applies to brief creative pieces that per se may have artistic merit." Collins Dictionary: "A sketch is a drawing that is done quickly without a lot of details. Artists often use sketches as a preparation for a more detailed painting or drawing. If you sketch something, you make a quick, rough drawing of it." Dictionary dot com: a simply or hastily executed drawing or painting, especially a preliminary one, giving the essential features without the details. a rough design, plan, or draft, as of a book. a brief or hasty outline of facts, occurrences, etc.: Domestika course: Definition of sketchbook: "No goal required A sketchbook doesn’t have to be part of a project, but rather a space to pour your ideas, that stream of unconscious information that comes out of your head through your hands -such as when you sketch or draw while talking on the phone-. This will help you discover more about your own style. Use your sketchbooks freely: not everything you do on them has to have a specific purpose." Why is this a battle? Because there are thousands of viewers who, having watched these wonderful 'sketchbook' tours, have become scared of using their sketchbooks because they are afraid of making mistakes! They use scraps of paper to try things out instead. And this is crazy, because those scraps of paper get tossed aside, and there is no evidence of those ideas, or the progress they are making, from sketchbook to sketchbook, from finished work to finished work. How do I know? Just read through their comments, and you'll see quite a lot of this sort of comment! As an art tutor, this is something I am passionate about! My students have to use their sketchbooks and they are not allowed to tear pages out, or to throw away 'failed' paintings, and when I explain why, they understand. And towards the end of the course, we have our mini-exhibitions, and they can each look back and see how they have progressed, personally, and how the other students have progressed, too, and it is a very positive experience for us all, students and tutor alike.

Maybe I'll leave it then; the book is now on my Finished Sketchbook shelf so that's probably the end of it anyway, haha! I may redraw a bigger Worm Farm on a single sheet of paper for prints. 😁

I haven't figured out if any are in the normal range - I feel like at least some of the colours might be? They're regular gouache, so will rewet when dry.

Oh wow, finally! It took ages for those to come back in! I really enjoyed the book and the paper was good. It buckles a bit but not too badly, but I don't remember how much it lets paint lift...I think it is fairly good for that, being a cellulose paper. That's one thing I can't say for sure though as I don't remember scrubbing paint in this book.
