Dude you cracked the wall that has been comic drawing for me. I was trying to do entire pages from scratch without storyboarding, without writing out the plot, etc. I was jumping into the deep end and sinking over and over. Now after hearing you talk about your process and watching you draw I feel reinvigorated and like I can actually bring my comic to life.

I just saw you sketch out an entire manga page on a piece of Xerox paper using a regular, run of the mill mechanical pencil. You just earned yourself a new subscriber for doing what I usually do with my own art. Always happy to see great artists use basic tools and equipment to make great works of art. Thanks for sharing this with us

Love how you can create light outlines and then darken them with the same pencil. I often accidentally darken the outlines so had to use even lighter pencil first then switch to darker pencil to darken the outline afterward

It really helped me to see the multiple passes over the panels. Seeing the very rough, then the rough, then the improved and finally the polished helped me. Seeing artists I view as further ahead of me take multiple passes to get to the end result helps. I got it stuck in my head at some point that 'a good artist would be able to just go straight to the polished product on the first try', which is just not true. Thank you for sharing this!

See him drawing the details before actually drawing the character is something I can’t do. I’ve been drawing anime characters for years without doing that and 90% of them turn out like the character. So when I start my Managa I’ll be doing the same as I’ve been doing with original characters from animes.

I'm glad I found this in my recommended I'm practicing drawing so I can become a manga artist to there are a lot of bumps but I believe I can achieve it just by seeing how hard you work. Keep it up

I remember watching a human anatomy tutorial video that really helped me, and for the love of god I cannot find it anymore. I remember the tutor (i think it is kuzo but I may be wrong) built up the anatomy with prisms for the torso and cylinders for the limbs. It has been years since I saw the video ( maybe 6-8) Anyways, your art style changed or maybe I am confusing you with somebody else. Ah it is frustrating that I cannot find that video anymore. It is not sycra or markcrilley, but it is definitely one of the 1st gen youtubers Update: Found him right after typing this... His name is koizu

This is a good idea. I always have trouble staying in one medium. Changing from traditional to digital or vice versa will help to pull me from any frustrations or burnout. Of redrawing the same thing over and over again because I don't like how it look.
