Great ski comparisons and perfect timing!! How do these compare to? Choosing between the Rustler and Fisher but also looking at the Ripstick 106 Black or say Maverick 100 ti. I'm 50% chasing the kids all over the mountain mostly frontside but sometimes off the groomers with them.. The other 50% skiing more aggressively and generally off piste. Will ski bowls from time to time when the legs feel strong, but not any double black diamond bowls. Never ski the park but do like to have fun catching a little bit of air on rollers and side hits. At the end of last season was playing around skiing switch. I mostly reside in Japan so the higher elevation mtns. near me get a lot of snow but sometimes ski the nearby ski resorts that are lower elevation mtns. and the type of skiing they offer is closer to New England skiing. Would love to hear your thoughts on a versatile ski.

@dave9668, Rustler 10 and Maverick will feel the grippiest of your grouping. Rustler has more power and will blast through crud better than Mav, overall our crew is waaaaaay more stoked on Rustler 10 vs Mav 100. If you value a ski that feels gripped on groomers you might prefer these two. If groomers are just part of the picture but you are more excited about off trail stuff, then we start to look at Ranger 102 vs Ripstick 106. Ranger has some metal under foot for grip, but its really playful and easy to slide the tails. Ripstick 106 Black will float really well, and handle nice groomers surprisingly well for a 106. Go Ranger if you prefer the smoothness/dampness of metal, go Ripstick if you value a ski that feels effortless to toss around and float is a must.

Great video Andrew! Love all the TSM videos and especially the 2024 podcast! Have not purchased skis in 15+ years and a lot has changed to say the least... Looking for the perfect one ski quiver for a New England skier. Wildcat in Mount Washington Valley will be our home mountain this year. Will be skiing primarily On Piste on Wildcat's challenging trails, whether groomed or ungroomed. Will be following my daughter and her friends into the glades and hopefully be able to take her into Thompson's Brook when she's ready. Current ski is a Volkl AC3 and was going to stick with the brand based on my history on their skis, but after listening to your great podcast on the 2024 skis I have am leaning towards skis the majority team have in their Top 5. I was leaning towards the Blizzard Rustler 9 but based on the top fives of TSM staff considering the Rustler 10 too. What do you think would be a better ski for Wildcat a Rustler 9 or a Rustler 10? The widest skis I own are an old pair of Salomon Pocket Rockets that are/were my powder skis...

@robertlopes2163, Rustler 9 and 10 are definitely great skis. They can totally handle Wildcat ice and do a great job replacing your AC3's. Having tested both at Wildcat myself, I can say from experience that the Rustler 10 is just a little bit easier to slide the tails and weave through Thompson Brook. The Rustler 9 is going to be a bit grippier on the icy groomers. Go with the 9 if you are prioritizing feeling grippy on the hard stuff. Go with the 10 if you are prioritizing true versatility and you want to have an easier time off trail.

Sounds great! Leaning towards the Rustler 9, listening to your 2024 ski wrap up Podcast definitely opened my eyes to the possibilities of other brands. Great job. Been chatting with Tyler, who's been very helpful too. My daughter's been in 3 years of the development program at Crotched. Hat's off to the great instructors there! I cannot praise them enough! This season she's in the Wildcat Development program. Hope to get her into the Brook with friends. My wife's not a glade skier but putting her on the Black Pearl 88s this year might change it (based on TSM reviews and Tyler's help)! You guys (and girls) are the best. Hope to see you at the Boston Ski Show if you guys have a booth. Do you do any demo days in December?@@TheSkiMonster

@@robertlopes2163 we do demo skis all year to help make the best selections for the store and our customers. Currently we don't put on any public facing demos but who knows what the future will hold. Glad you are stoked on the service, don't hesitate to hit us if you need something.

I commented on the Fischer 96 but the same applies to the Fischer 102.. I would say more of a soft snow ski.. I would like to get on the Blizzard Rustler 10.. How does it compare to the Volkl Mantra 102? I did get on a pair last year and I was surprised on how easy it was for me to turn and yet it still has the Volkl stability..

@darinsmith2458, Mantra 102 is more demanding, powerful, and hard charging than the Rustler 10. Rustler 10 is easier to turn than the Mantra 102 making it a better option for more technical terrain. Skiers with a more playful style would prefer the Rustler 10 over the Mantra.

Can you compare the ranger 108 to lets say the rustler 11 or your next favorite comparible
@TheSkiMonster
@TheSkiMonster 9 ай бұрын
@danieliscrazy111 The Ranger 108 vs. the Rustler 11 is a great comparison. These are awesome skis in softer, deeper snow and are great options for skiers looking to add a pow ski to the quiver. The Ranger is more agile and pivots more easily through technical terrain while the Rustler 11 offers more power and feels more limitless. Over chopped-up or tracked-out terrain the Ranger is more easily knocked around and even though it's a more narrow ski it's better in softer snow than the Rustler. The Rustler still offers awesome float while feeling quieter at speed. Can't go wrong either way if you're looking for a wider-waisted ski. Go Rustler if you want a playful ski that shares some DNA that you'd usually only find in more narrow skis, go Ranger if you want a ski that's awesome off trail but can still hang on some less-than-desirable terrain.
