I decided to try this can out on my 2019 Freeride 850 as it sounded like it was exactly what I was looking for on their website. Decent weight savings, no power loss and similar to stock noise level.
I emailed them a couple times asking for dyno results, decibel levels and a video to show the sound, and they didn't have any and frankly didn't seem like they wanted to help with anything at all
So I decided to take the gamble and try it for myself. I tried to get recordings to help anyone else that is on the fence like I was. Hope this helps a bit.
I used a cheap decibel reader app that I downloaded for free. I just wanted it as a reference between the two. It is by no means 100% accurate I'm sure. I only wanted to show the difference between the cans, not actually use the numbers for sound levels. The background noise was quite high as the wind was pretty strong that day so I'm sure these numbers are probably higher than they should be, but the difference between cans should be relative still.
The mic was placed roughly 15-18' away about 4' off the ground and on the clutch side of the sled.
THE SOUND:
The sound at idle is definitely deeper. Quite a nice tone. Slightly louder I think but not really noticeable unless you were paying attention.
The sound through the midrange is very close to stock I think. It’s hard to hear exactly as I was running it on a (makeshift) stand and the track hums pretty good.
The sound at 6000rpm and up... this is where I was a bit disappointed. It seemed loud to me as they describe it as "close to stock levels" at WOT. It has the higher pitch sound that I’m used to hearing with cans. On my only ride with the can installed, I was riding with a buddy who had the MBRP Trail can and at WOT, they sounded quite similar I think which I don't really consider "quiet".
Also, another gripe I had, is they didn't use the two mounting pins like the stock exhaust. The only mounting point is the bolt. The spring doesn't allow the bolt to get tight enough to keep the exhaust rigid to the frame. In my opinion, it should have a LEAST one other mounting point to avoid the pivoting motion it currently has at the flange to the pipe.
