Today in Episode 8 of RUFF REV, we replace some sound foam and clean the primary and secondary clutches on the 2005 Skidoo 550f REV.

These videos are a blessing. I purchased a 2005 MXZ 550F (the exact sled in your videos) for $300. Needless to say for that price its rough (been hacked all over the place). I plan on going through the skidoo over the summer and your 550F videos are going to be a huge help. Thank you !!

Hey Edward, Thanks for stopping by to check out the Rev videos. It’s appreciated. It’s a nice little machine. I noticed It is a bit of a gas hog. I ordered an electric start kit for it that’s suppose to be in next month. They were on backorder like most everything else. This video was a blessing. I am literally doing the same thing in the shop right now. I watched your video and I worked along this evening. Mine was very seized up also, same as yours. Thanks for everything. My belt had A very strange Mark on the outside from hitting one of the rivets on the belt guard so I’ve been digging for problems. Thanks again

I replaced the foam also in my gsx this past summer when I rebuilt the engine, hopefully it helps cutting down on the noise produced by the engine. I will find out this winter if we get snow! Already have rooms booked up in tug hill, Hopefully I will be able to take advantage of it!

@@SometimeIsNow I have a 2004 GSX 600 HO SDI, that's a liquid, I also have 2015 GSX 1200 four stroke.

How has this foam paneling held up at this point now you've put some time on it ? Looking to re-do my 08 MXZ TNT . Also , what you using for a heat resistant material around exhaust areas ?@@SometimeIsNow

if i don't have electric start is it ok to take off the chain ring?

Hey Scott, Thanks for stopping by the channel. If you’re referring to the starter ring gear on the back side of the primary clutch you can remove it if you don’t plan on adding ES. I bought a ES kit for the wife’s 550 that I’ll be installing before next winter. Take Care

@@scottd7615 Hey Scott, Maybe but IMO.. I doubt you’ll notice a “seat of the pants” difference with removing the ring gear even though you’re removing rotating mass. Take Care
