unfortunately the screenshot claimed by insider gaming to be from a remaster is actually from a fan made HD texture pack created by 1vierock, and running in the Dolphin emulator

I hope it’s not a rumor. I have this great game on Dreamcast and GameCube, and I’ll gladly buy it a third time if it’s remade/remastered. I remember buying it on GameCube for $24.99. I even kept the GameStop sticker on it because I knew that no one would believe I bought it for that price years later lol.

Just replayed it last summer (the legends version) and it holds up but would really benefit from some fast forward during battle animations (how were we so patient in the 90s and early 2000s with crazy battle animations that we would see 100 times and that took 30 sec each time, I’ll never know haha)

Can’t say enough about this game. As a middle schooler I was heavily into jrpgs, before this came out I was just playing chrono trigger all the time and then skies of Arcadia came to rival that. The cinematic quality of the story, the battle system, the world building *chefs kiss*

So excited. Easily one of the most unique and expansive GC games and definitely for Dreamcast!

I'm late on hearing about this most recent rumor of a possible Skies Of Arcadia Remaster/Remake but, I really hope that it's still _at least_ in the making and actually comes to fruition this time. Let's go, Blue Rogues!!

Between this, Baten Kaitos, Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill 2 and Dead Space all getting remasters/remakes, this is officially the best year in gaming 🥳

Hoping with every bit of my hope that this is really happening! I never got to play Skies of Arcadia back when it was new, I didn't even know what it was until the mid 00s, and even by then, the GC version was over $80 on the secondhand market. This game *needs* a rerelease of some kind

I loved it on the Dreamcast. The controller even talked to you. The first time that was a thing. One of my all-time favorites.

I hope they fix the audio from the GameCube version. Skies of Arcadia Dreamcast had a fuller soundtrack. The GameCube version sounded so muffled with some of the layers missing.

Skies is one of my favorite games, so hope something comes out of this! There was a rumor of a port/remaster back in the 360 days but unfortunately nothing came of it so i've always gave up on it ever seeing any love again - but like you say, we're in the days of ports, remasters and remakes so now is the time it would happen.

If they can get more animation out of the face expressions, that was a strong point for Skies of Arcadia. Music and Backgrounds along with the atmosphere of the environment made up a lot of my personal experience. Some people could tell you where to collect more moon fish, surprisingly, but I happen-stance-ed upon everything I found in that game and enjoyed it casually. I forgot you're talking about a remaster and not an enhanced version... Well I would buy it, on steam or switch.

this is pretty cool that was a memorable game. I loved the world in which it took place.

It needs a remake only in graphics,adding new stuff like new items new areas and new enemies in new locations.I don't know why people say that it didn't sold well,also but from Capcom Rockman Rockman 1 remake in graphics and a sequel,for americans would be Megaman Powered Up!,i still don't know why it didn't sold well since it's an awesome game.Skies Of Arcadia same,awesome game but so far no a single remaster or remake,another one is Legend Of Legaia,i don't know anything about Legaia 2 but the first one even now it's one of the coolest rpg ever created.

It's baffling this game was never given a sequel. Easily the best RPG on the GameCube. I do hope they remaster "Legends", which has TONS of extra content that the Dreamcast version did not. Also, in addition to upgrading the graphics, it'd be nice if they implemented some of the minigames and side quests that were left on the cutting room floor of both versions, like the ability to buy and sell ships.

The one thing I would want in a remaster is the ability to chose where on the battlefield each character goes, so magic like wevili and electri would be more useful to aim

This is just one of many Sega RPGs that need to come back, including Panzer Dragoon Saga, Shining Force 3, and Albert Odyssey. I'm still hoping that PDS will be remade by those guys who remade the first game and are doing the Front Mission remakes.

A remastered part 1 bundled with a part 2. It could easily be a couple thousand years in the future.

It deserves a Remake. or Sequel. With real time combat. It would be so good if they did that. It's such a much more fun world and brand than ALL the other major RPG games being made that have such bland worlds and characters. Meanwhile they're just sitting on this old IP that is AMAZING 😐 It definitely needs Real Time combat IMO, full REmake not just remaster. Like the RE remakes, they keep the basis of the game but basicually improve and expand the gameplay to modern standards.

SOA and the Lunar series are two classics that I've wanted a remake on, remasters can be meh, but we will see.

I really hope this severely underrated Gem of a RPG one of the greatest RPGs of all time finally gets a remaster this game needs to be brought into the modern era so people that did not have a GameCube or play the Dreamcast version I have personally played the GameCube version which I still have I absolutely love this game so please but this game get a we make and hopefully get the respect that this severely underrated Gem of an RPG deserves

The best QOL they can include is faster loading time for battles. I love the game, but starting a fight is very slow especially on the dreamcast version

Whenever anyone asks me which game I want remade, SoA is always the first name out my mouth. If Sega does push through with this, it's certain it'll be another W for them. the wishlist for the game would be; 60fps (or more), 4k resolution with upscaled textures, higher poly count models, speed mode (similar to say FF12 TZA), some way to play the dreamcast tomogachi mini game thing.

I just recently started playing the game again on my odin pro. I will straight up drop playing on that and play on the switch if there is a switch version. I hope the rumor is true, this is one of my dream ports along with Baten Kaitos.

Vice was a secret character in valkeria chronicles I think which was a game similar to final fantasy tactics. when asked about it they said no way. but as far as a game with new graphics from the good ole days of my early adulthood this is great a dreamcast Hallmark masterpiece of the highest order. another game I beg for a new one is power stone that basic game system could go full stuntmaster gaming has come a long way.

I would love for this to get a remaster, no need for a remake as the graphics still hold up fairly well. I still have my Gamecube Legends copy as well. Eternal Darkness needs a remaster as well.

Man, I sooo hope this is true. I paid through the NOSE for a used copy of the GameCube port after my son ruined my original DC discs, but if they bring it to Steam (like they did for Grandia 1/2 a few years back) I'll pay literally anything to have it on PC. edit: Hell, I'd pay pretty much anything for an untouched version of the GameCube port on Steam. I don't even need a remaster!

I sure hope this is getting a remaster. More people need to experience Skies Of Arcadia. I'm just replaying the game on GameCube and I'm loving it. There's some things that definitely need some fixing, though. The camera is sluggish as hell, which is annoying in tight corridors. Random battles are a thing too. Some might enjoy them, some don't. I don't have problems with them usually, but it would be better if they would flow faster. The battle system is good though.The graphics would need some work, but I have to say that I find them quite charming. They're from a very unique era of gaming. The visuals look like something in between N64 and PS2. The environments are really beautiful and atmospheric. They like tickle my adventurous and boyish side. I'm just at a village that is like a huge tree house and you can slide down from the upper levels to the bottom. I remember that one later area is a city that is built under ice and the buildings are huge icicles that hang from the ice above. How crazy is that? A 10 year old me would have loved this game.

I own the Gamecube version, it's a masterpiece, the sky exploration it's top notch it left me breathless, so much that when I got Zelda Skyward Sword I got severely disappointed with the sky exploration since it pales in comparison to Skies of Arcadia

I played it (and still have it) on the DC. Would love to see it on a modern console.

If they will do this, it will be hinted on PSO2 NG, probably as a collaboration event or costume re-release.

I really hope they make it happen. Even if we look at remasters from business perspective. First thing is spread the rumours so that people become interested and come on, free advertising… the fans do it for you. If we look at the Switch, the RPG community is massive. Best practice is to engage your fan base, learn and listen to what improvements people want and “Just do it”. Once you have the elements together the cost should be low, because the core game is there and the feedback provides the adjustment options. So in the end the company gets the return and we get what we want. 🤝

That is kinda cool, but I can think of other games that need a remaster more than Skies of Arcadia, for the simple reason that Skies of Arcadia works pretty well on emulator.

It's... strange to say the least, but I'll flip my shit if it turns true! The only reason I think this might be false is the fact that Rieko Kodama, director of Skies of Arcadia, passed away in May 2022... But if this does become true tho, it'd be awesome, 'cause it means that she got to work on her first 3D RPG again before she passed. And if you assume that the Remaster was being worked on for a while(like, 2021ish?), and that her last work was with Sega Ages ports for the Nintendo Switch in 2018... maybe, just maybe... she was assigned to lead a Skies of Arcadia Remaster after Sega Ages! But there's a possibility that they just decided to do the Remaster without her so... yeah. I hope it's true!
