Welcome to a video I've been very excited to put together - our vlog from skiing in Georgia! We spent two months at this ski resort and had the BEST time. ❤ Extra tips for New Gudauri skiing:
- Bring cosy clothes for in the apartment and at night because sometimes it can get quite cold.
- Our favourite ski run is to ride up the main gondola, and then up a second gondola (continuing up and to the left), and then skiing down in the direction of further away from "home". It's a super long run and really beautiful. It's a red I'd say.
- Get cash (Lari) when you land because often the ATMs in the resort run out of money (they always restock but you might need to check several times). Ski rental is about $10 a day, the pass about $10 a day, and meals $5-10 each. Georgia is famous for cheap and amazing red wine.
* If you have some tough snow shoes for evenings I'd recommend it because the paths get super icy and are not well maintained.
* Buy a sim card with 3G at the airport - data is insaaaanely cheap and the wifi at the resort sucks.
- Restaurants
* We like the Italian place for impressively authentic pizza
* Meatloaf is the fancy option (but still not expensive) - good salads and pasta
* Drunk Cherry is the big main restaurant (also does a vaguely passable breakfast if you're not making your own) and has great live bands for big party nights too
* Restorant Mountain has the best khinkali (a Georgian dish worth trying)
* Travel Bar has amazing waffles
* Our favourite Khachapuri is in the restaurant under the building Loft 1. And also often has live music. The garlic chicken there is also excellent.
* Eating up the mountain is cheap too so no need to worry about pack lunches etc - everywhere is great! But expect terrible service.
