You're good! This doesn't seem materialistic to me. I was never taught makeup properly growing up, so it took years of trying new products (still doing it somewhat) to find the right ones. Now that I've identified what works for me, that's it. So you're fine!!! Exploration is healthy in my opinion. And yay on your mom visiting!!!! Also good on you for a social media hiatus. I felt so much better once I cut out social media.

Maria, for a cleanser that removes make up easily, you should try out oil cleansers. They melt away your makeup quickly and after that, you can use your normal cleanser that you like in order to actually clean your face (I recommend Caudalie's make-up removing cleansing oil from Sephora !)
@everebecca98683 жыл бұрын
@Barney Rubble you shouldnt wash your face with sugar thats way too harsh on your skin
@everebecca98683 жыл бұрын
@Barney Rubble it doesnt matter if its sugar or salt its the texture thats the problem, its far too harsh for the delicate skin on your face especially twice a day and could end up making small tears in the skin and causing more harm than good!! Even if you dont have sensitive skin or you mix it with something else it still has the same damaging effect over time. No hate im just trying to help!! I thought it was a well known thing that using pure sugar/sugar scrubs were bad for your skin

maria, have you heard about "highly sensitive person" or "sensory processing sensitivity"? a HSP is someone who is very sensitive about their surroundings, meaning, they notice delicate or fine scents, tastes, *sounds*, they get easily overwhelmed by such things as bright lights, strong smells, or sirens, they also need to withdraw during busy days so they can have privacy and relief, among other traits. and because our body and skin tell us what's happening inside us, a HSP could also have sensitive skin. I myself am a HSP and my skin has always been super sensitive. I cannot wear cosmetics with fragrance on them, it's just not for me. but anyways, I thought you might like knowing this. there's a book about HSP written by Elaine Aron and there are some other researches as well. :) btw, loved to hear that you are going for a more minimalistic lifestyle, I couldn't agree more, this is what we and the planet need right now.

Great idea! Some small tips I've heard in general are use moisturizing gloves at night and put sunscreen on your hands when you are outside. On a TV show they introduced a lady, as an example, with one hand that had visibly aged worse then the other (with sunspots etc.) and it was due to her wearing one Swing Glove while she played golf for hours. The hand that did not have the Swing Glove for protection, was the hand that was really badly sun damaged. The show recommended using sunscreen on the hands as you do your face to prevent this :)

Eye creams are just moisturizers put in a small bottles. It is the same thing. Except in the case of vitamin C. Most vitamin c products are NOT for the upper eye lid. You would need an eye safe one for that. I use my vitamin C during the day to help with free radicals, retinol or other serums at night.
@belladonna92273 жыл бұрын
Eye creams are just small moisturisers but some people have a different skin type on their eyelids. Eyelid skin can be oilier or drier and the eye and undereye might need some special ingredients like caffeine to brighten,or retinol if you don’t want to put retinol on your whole face.

Hi Maria, First of all, I want to thank you so much for the work that you do!!! I discovered that ASMR was a real "thing" only a few months ago. I am a Reiki practitioner and while looking on line for a remote Reiki session, stumbled across someone who does ASMR style Reiki by proxy. Then I looked up ASMR and found a wonderful woman called Latte, whose videos I thoroughly enjoy. She mentioned you in one of her videos as her inspiration, and that's how I found you. I love everything you do! You are so welcoming, comforting and interesting, and I want to thank you for easing my anxiety especially during these crazy times. I totally understand where you're coming from regarding unplugging from social media. I've been doing the same thing and have been enjoying life so much more, taking time to stop and smell the roses and take better care of myself. Dear Maria, Me and my two best friends (all with different skin types) SWEAR on the Sunscreen from Paula's Choice. It's incredible! First the texture is so light in your skin and does not feel oily at all. Secondly a small tube will last for months even tough I am using it every day. It's quite expensive (I am from Europe so I don't know the US price& shipping conditions). But since I am also trying to be a more mindful consumer, I am using it because it''s cruelty free & has no harmful or irritating ingredients. I am in my late 20s, so maybe this product could be useful for you too! I hope you will notice this comment & it will be helpful. I am watching your videos for at least 7 years now (I started with the paper plane video I think haha). Thank you so much for all you do for us😊❤

I completely understand and identify with you when you said that you were frugal and bought things that were cheap but less quality.... I went through same thing when I was living in another country, I had no money and all that I earned went to my college fee and rent and food. So I learned to be extremely frugal.... Then after getting married , and having a better job I had the same pattern of unconsciousnessly being over frugal where at one point I thought that's enough... I do not have to live boarder line.. I can get better things and good food for myself and my family. So I changed my wardrobe slowly , I upgraded the way I work, I started using quality language with my kids cz I was raised in lower middle class family where yelling and cursing was common, I started spending money on books and preferred quality in everything.... I try my utmost best to incorporate quality in everything I do....even the mundane things...and that has brought my satisfaction and learning that old you cannot serve the new you.

Maria, when you mentioned that you were researching a "minimalist" lifestyle, I totally clicked with you on that one. With that said, I always told myself that "less is more, and more is less", which means that you can always have more when it's necessary, so don't buy or have too much to the point where you get stressed out and overwhelmed. And I'm really proud to say that I decluttered my room within the span of two hours with my mom and since then I have felt this sense of freedom and relief that I am no longer in a pit of clutter and piles of X, Y, and Z. Furthermore, don't feel bad for not posting in a while on social media because I haven't done so in a while either. You're not the only one and no, it isn't sad that you don't want to come back yet. And that is OK. Take all the time you need to focus on yourself and your family. Be well Maria! ✨
