I have tried everything from drugstore to Sephora and I find the best results from medical grade. My eye area is my problem and I think it's a good investment for me to buy medical grade eye creams. I am a typical middle class income what I do is take $20 or so from each pay to save for what I want. I just may avoid eating out so I can save that $20. Trust me from someone who has spent a lot of money on skincare medical grade is the way to go!

Thank you SO much for this great overview of your favorite (and not so favorite) SkinMedica products. I have been investing more in my skin care, and want to start using medical grade products, but had no idea where to start. You have given me a great jumping off point, and I definitely think my first purchase will be the TNS serum. 💸😱 I also want to try the HA5 . No one else reviews products as comprehensively as you do, I truly appreciate all of your hard work, because it saves me heaps of cash!

Hi, I’m 61 and have been using the TNS, HA5, and Lytera for 5 years now. My skin looks amazing I have no fillers, but do get Botox injections for my migraines in my forehead. The results are amazing. I love SkinMedica!

Thank you for saying textured eyes! I’m 67, because the skin is so different from one area to the next - texture, uneven tone, pores, I look amazing tinting brightening emulsion to use as makeup. I can build coverage where needed and the light reflecting emulsion glows, not greasy and using alone on wrinkles makes them vanish. I don’t wear makeup everyday anymore. If I did, 2 best to wear under are the essential serum and HA5 Hydrator. Love them. My pores easily clog, not with these. Especially grateful for the lip plumper review, At my age I’d be happy with the hydration. LOL!!!

Hi Stephanie, enjoyed this! I have the HA5 Serum and I do love it and the price isn't that bad considering you get 2 ounces. Thanks so much Stephanie. I've been on the fence for so long on taking the plunge for the tns eyecream. I finally did after watching this. I got the space ship 1, haha! I'm so happy I did! I can tell the difference in quality after using so many different types. Even after spending 65.00 on Dr.Perricone eyecream, i don't regret this because if it works I'll pay. I ended up getting 20%off on Dermstore so that helped. Thanks again and I remember 1 of your past videos on skincare awhile ago and u mentioned Skin Medica.

@@Madithemuggle I tried it and was loving it until I realized that the SECOND ingredient is dimethicone. So what you think is smooth skin is actually a layer of spackle. Also, if dimethicone is supposed to create a barrier to seal in moisture, doesn't it follow that anything layered on top of it won't absorb? I don't use hyaluronic acid as my last step in skincare so I think it would just make me waste a lot of expensive products that I normally layer. :\

Hi Stephanie, I think you said you work in pharmaceutical sales (?) so you must have a decent understanding of biology & chemistry. Have you looked into whether or not the ingredients of the $281 serum penetrate to the deeper layers of the epidermis where cells & matrix are still alive? (In order for this serum to reduce lines & wrinkles, it has to stimulate collagen & elastin production closer to the basal layer.) My husband & I are researchers. I use growth mediums in several cell lines in one of my projects and they don't carry anything special other than "food" for a particular cell line and buffers to maintain pH. Since you work at a pharma co, look at a chemical supply brochure/website (eg. Sigma) and look at fibroblast growth medium. I think you'll be disappointed in its content. With that said, I'm glad the serum works for you. Thanks!

+Susan Mueller I haven't looked at it that deeply as I'm not on the derm side of things. That's interesting info though! I just know it works well for me based on actual experience and have talked to dozens of people who've seen/felt results from it in terms of skin evening, clarity, wrinkle reduction, smoothing, etc. Dermatologists love it bc of the results patients see with it...they rec products that truly work because they want their patients to see results. The reviews are excellent as well. If something gives me actual visible, touchable results...it's a winner! 😁👍🏼 I'll certainly look into it but I feel like all these results can't be false. You know? Thanks for that info!

Yeah I've wondered about that as well. Wondered whether there was data to back the claims of growth hormones. I've also learned recently that peptides might not actually give the results that manufacturers claim they do. Disappointing to say the least. I will say I'm still interested in the TNS serum anyway, given all the amazing reviews I've seen for it on the dermstore website. I guess I'm just not sure how much more good it can do for my skin what with me already using a good vit c, and the skin medica retinol alternating with the good genes lactic acid. I also use an essence and good moisturizers from drunk elephant. Since I started using these products my skin has improved SO much, (and btw I'm only at .5 for the retinol) I just dont know how much more it can improve? But I suppose at age 37 there's always room for improvement. Lol. Do either of you think it's still worth getting to supplement what I'm already using?

I'd say to get into masking a couple of times a week! Keeping your pores clear with masks and also using good skincare in general, cleansing, toning with a balancing toner (like paula's choice) and using a lactic or glycolic acid serum (the ordinary or sunday riley make good ones) will help as well. Looking into the cause of your clogged pores is going to be key...it could be a makeup product you're using or a current skincare product. Good luck! Thank you!

Mixing and matching is absolutely fine! I said in other videos (and forgot to in this one...so I did on social media!) that I do get my Skinmedica at a discount. It helps to know someone who works for these companies who places orders every so often! So no affiliation or anything, but I can get it at a much better price. But that could end at any time I suppose...and I'd pay full price for the ones I feel have worked well for me.

Hey Stephanie..great video!! I am just wondering are you being sent these Skinmedica products at a discounted price or given the products for an honest review?? These are so costly and I would have to invest a small fortune for the line!!
@StephanieMarie
@StephanieMarie 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Patty! I've had my channel for slightly less than a year and have been using Skinmedica products for close to two years...long before my channel existed. I'm not being sent any products from Skinmedica. Anything I'm sent from a brand will always be disclosed in my description box. Even when I'm sent something, I will ALWAYS give an honest review. However, (I stated this in a couple of my earlier skincare videos and completely forgot to do so in this video!)... I have been getting them at an employee discounted price through someone since I started using the line two years ago. I'm hoping she stays with the company a long long time because it's nice! But if she doesn't, I would continue to purchase and use a seasonal online discount code (I also have some in my description box that you can use if you'd like). I do believe in investing in skincare, especially as I age. But it's important to pick and choose which products to invest in so you don't break the bank! I hope that answers your questions. :)

Used TNS for 5 months and I loved the way it went on and it made sense putting growth factors and peptides together, however I didn't notice one difference. Plus I am a blonde, blue-eyed Irish/Scandinavian and skin cancer runs in my family, so I think for right now, it's best for me to stay away from growth factors, until they know more about them.

Hi Stephanie. Great video! Not sure if your still using the TNS Essential serum but when you used it did you also use a vitamin c serum? I asked Skin Medica but they said you dont need to use a seperate vitamin c serum as the TNS serum already has vitamin c in it. So now Im confused as I have the Skin Ceuticals CE serum and was applying that in the morning and then the TNS essential serum at night and sometimes in the morning too. Thanks!

+Lisa Smith You're so sweet! If your undereyes are currently inflamed, I'd repair that before doing anything at all there. Just use a hydrating eye cream like Kiehls and Aquaphor to seal in the moisture. Once you feel back to normal, try once a week until your skin gets used to it. Then work up to twice a week, etc. Tapering up is key, especially with sensitive skin. What retinol are you using currently?

+Leslie Edwards Yes, I wouldn't use it otherwise. My standard am routine forever was the cleanser, Serum and then moisturizer/SPF. I later incorporated vitamin C and the HA5 before the moisturizer. I know this is an old video, but i have mild rosacea and sensitive skin. The skinmedica .025% retinol made me so dry and flakey then i broke out in a face full of bumps. Its been three weeks and they are slowly going away. I rarely ever break out. It is terrible experience ive never had before. Also , i have to throw away an expensive product too! Be careful with retinal, i only used it 3x a week for about 3 weeks before this happened. I was also trying a new sunscreen at the same time but my break out seems to be attributed to the retinal as it is a common occurrence. I read if you stick with it it will go away and get better but I just couldn’t . Anyone else experience this?
@asheaustin
@asheaustin 4 жыл бұрын
Lynne Burrell Hey, I didn’t use the product you used but I have used Trentinon from my Curology provider-in the beginning I had a lot of redness, inflammation, and flaky skin. Although, after some time that began to go away and it started to really work well for me, getting rid of wrinkles that started forming on my forehead. I would recommend mixing the retinol with some type of moisturizer (oil or cream) that should take down the strength so your face can adjust. Granted I don’t have super sensitive skin or rosacea, but I hope this helps!

@StephanieMarie
@StephanieMarie 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Nicole! The Recovery Complex has just the TNS but not the APS Complex which contains peptides and antioxidants like vitamins C,E and coenzyme Q10, extracts, alpha arbutin, and hyaluronic acid. So while the TNS will help improve the texture, tone, fine lines and wrinkles, you're missing the protection from further damage that the antioxidants provide and the skin brightening and deep hydrating/plumping properties. I feel like that's why the TNS serum is the raved about one over the Recovery Complex. I'm sure it's nice. It's just not quite as power packed.

HA can make you more dry and make your nasolabial folds, etc more apparent if not applied with added moisture. HA attracts moisture from somewhere...the air or your skin. So applying it with a hydrating spray and topping it with your moisturizer to seal it in is a good idea.

It depends on what your main concern is and if you can continue to repurchase after 6-8 weeks. Definitely purchase through my link to get a discount (or somewhere else) with a discount code and shop through ebates (linked above) to get a rebate back too for more money off from wherever you shop. If your main concerns are anti-aging, texture, spots, etc then the TNS. But if you want hydration (without oiliness or greasiness) and plumpness, then the HA5. BUT, you could try The Ordinary's HA and do the TNS or try a Paula's Choice Serum and do the HA5. There are options to mix and match to save money. I hope that helps. Sorry for the delay. We've had some personal catastrophes and I've been a bit scattered. Let me know what you end up with!
