This was my favorite song off Handover (what a dark album o.o;) this totally rocks my world! Would love to hear Rabies tracks turned into wide-spanning Pink Floyd journeys, hah

This is amazing Ken! This song was always a masterpiece, up there with Spasmolytic, Candle, Love in Vein, Rodent, or Assimilate. This whole album, really. I (think I) appreciate the difficulty of getting this out the door, but it was always the album I wanted Skinny Puppy to make: expanding on the themes of "Frozen Sky" off cEvin Key's "The Ghost of Each Room." The sounds are so lush, organic, alien, and psychedelic. And Ogre, both as a singer and poet, is just at his peak. I can *feel* the post-Bush era in this. The older I get, the more I appreciate the genius of Skinny Puppy from The Process to Weapon. I always loved all these albums, but I interrogate and savor them now. I'm a better listener, in large part due to your channel!

Thank you for sharing Tariq, and with such awesome insight 🙏🏻 I've also come to love HanDover, but admittedly, it took some time after making it before I felt this way. Not uncommon in my own experience, and particularly when an album takes too long to complete ;-) Ogre's lyrics just blow me away, and I agree, his singing has only ever improved throughout his career, I've talked about it in past sessions. @@hiwattmarshall I remember in interviews about The Process, Ogre commenting that he was finally "really singing." I dunno, I'm an early fan and fell in love with the sound of Too Dark Park and Last Rights I think partly due to cEvin's seamless and creative sampling flow. It was so textural back then. Melody culled from that collision of samples. The newer stuff post-Process definitely hit a new level and is more sophisticated but I do enjoy that slightly less-refined period in the early-to-mid 90s. This remix was a welcome alt take and great to see you uncorking it. Happy holidays Ken, love your channel.

"Frozen Sky" was a very exciting time..ever so slowly, very slowly, you could feel a reunion was imminent, but it was kept rather quiet. Puppy members were on more friendly terms, a remix here and there, doing tracks on each others album, Key accepts a spot drumming on tour with Ohgr...not too sure how to put that feeling into words for those who weren't anticipating it at the time but it was definitly exciting. Something you know that is 99% happening, yet not yet made "official."

@@hiwattmarshall I hate that HanDover gets so overlooked. It had to grow on me a bit as well, but it has always seemed the SP album that listeners rarely go back to for whatever reason, and through no fault of the members. I think if more listeners got drawn back to the album they would find more that they would enjoy on there. Just the curse of the modern music world I guess, people can get so much music that even albums by their favorite bands only get a few spins before they feel the need to move onto something else.

HanDover came out right when I moved to the Pacific Northwest and was constantly in my headphones as I waited for buses in the dreary winters. It was so fitting and to me stands out among the other post Dwyane SP albums. Thanks for sharing Ken, Happy Holidays!

Now, all we have to do is get the guys to accumulate all of the original Rabies materials, convene with you, and get us a definitive, properly-mixed Rabies on vinyl and CD! Then, we can lay all of the, well, "accident" pressings that came before into the recycler. Oh, and let's make sure the printers who have done the other SP reissues do NOT do them again! luv your content after finding your roaming samples vid... just the mad scientist I've been looking for. I'm completely new but I want to collect sample files and looking into best way to find samples and capture/store ... I see most just using vinyl.. is there a reason vinyl is go to for audio samples?

Thanks Dirty Keys! It's amazing just how beat up gear can get on the road, vs. the studio haha! My PCM42 has been around the globe a few times...and it looks like it 😐. The H3500 on the other hand, has never been on the road, and always in a studio rack. Personally, I would recommend either renting, or securing a 2nd 'road unit' for touring 🤟🏻 Thanks for sharing, and please stay safe! -hw

Great question Malewicz! I would LOVE to assist in assembling a sort of remix/restored collection of SP tracks, but it's...complicated 😳 Unfortunately, and in the case of many legacy projects, there have been multiple publishers, and labels involved throughout their careers. This can be problematic when it comes to compilations, often requiring substantial licensing fees, etc. On the other hand, it might be far more realistic for each label to release their own...like a 'best of Nettwerk era, or Metropolis'!!! That would be cool. Maybe you've planted a seed to be sowed hahah!!! 💥 Thank you for sharing here Malewicz, I hope you & yours are safe & happy this holiday season ⛄️🎄 -hw
