Eh, I would say that it is a cooling oil. Lots of metal fabrication processes require it. The friction of the tools generates a lot of heat quickly that needs to be removed or the tool will become damaged.

@@jschrab66 Yeah cooling oil but looks very thin , I've seen some cooling oil that was kinda thick...

@@dimmacommunication High viscosity oils are often used in applications where you want it to stick to the parts, or when it has a dual purpose as lubricant. Chainsaws use this, for example. Low viscosity, on the other hand, is great if you want a high rate of heat transfer and/or very consistent performance.. And it's a bit easier to clean. So I'm guessing the reason is one of these.
