Very necessary for the driver/owner to know on any vehicle, particularly with newer vehicles and even more so if it's a VW product with start-stop, at some point you will need to use a battery charger.

I'm not keen on start-stop. It feels odd when the engine cuts out (particularly while waiting to pull out of a junction into fast traffic).

I will give VW their due, their system in that incidence is better than with my neighbour's Ren-No! Nissan Cashcow (manual), that left with half a bonnet length over the line as it didn't let me not need to give-way whilst changing down. Methinks these computer programs are not fully suited to the real world. Unlike Telsas. 🤣

My friend has moved his Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSi on. It was too much of a liability, seriously bad engines those.

That's a pity! Hope he's found a suitable replacement. As a matter of interest, I was recently in a Superb Mk3 taxi with 300,000+ miles on the clock. It looked virtually new inside and out. Hope you're well, Paulie.

@CarSpyTV He's actually returned to another Toyota Avensis estate in the exact same colour and a slightly higher spec. The Škoda was a beautiful car top spec L&K with all the extras, etc, but the engine was a ticking time bomb with so many problems. I'm doing good, thanks, Superbs are fantastic cars.

@@paulie-Gualtieri. I can never understand why anyone would move from a Toyota or Honda to a VW product, perhaps they believe the reputation from last century than German engineering is so good, VAG, Merc and BMW rely on this out of date belief..

@nta.16 I know, if the Škoda were a diesel it would have been fine. Those 1.8 TSi are rubbish.

I'm biased I don't like VWs (or Mercs or BMW much). to me the VW (4-pots at least) have always sounded badger's so you might as well have a diesel for the noise but some Aldi diesels have had the biggest black clouds from their exhausts I've ever seen (I'm excluding the idiots that tune to over fuel, often VW but last I saw was an Aldi). I'd best stop I could moan about VW products until the cows come home. 😆 In case you think I'm too biased, we had 4 real Skodas in the mid-1980s to early 90s, in England where the newspapers literally made them a laughing stock (to protect their advertisers) heard a lot of good joke then though. 😀
