Can’t beat a diesel hot hatch! Instant boost and mad torque at low revs but still able to drive it paced when needed 👌
@colinjones25052 жыл бұрын
Had mine since 2006, bog standard apart from leather, Black Magic, and STILL puts a smile on my face with its 'mere' 130bhp and 55mpg average mpg. F.S.H., 154,000 miles, and still running sweetly on original exhaust and clutch. Pampered like a baby, and gets everything it requires.

Thanks for the information, I will keep an eye out for this problem. There is a small amount of rust starting on the sill which is getting fixed next week. This was a car I overlooked for many years but would recommend one to any hot hatch fan 👍🏽

Another awesome video! I've never really thought 'Hot Hatch' rules dictated the powerplant HAD to be petrol but I can see why a lot of people would think that. Your video has certainly won the argument if there was any doubt. Its fast, affordable, practical and makes you giggle with every throttle input. Well put together video mate! 👍

Always liked the idea of this car. Wish more manufacturers had developed diesel hot hatches back in the day. Not going to happen now. There was a suggestion that the heavier engine led to a lot of understeer but ive never driven one so not sure.

Love diesel hot hatches, many people hate but they can be even faster than some NA hatches on a twisty road, with big low down torque you can drive it effortless. The only problem is with rain and greasy road, can't put power down even with a proper diff You need to try it with remap
@ChristopherGower3 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. With 230hp in my Clio 172, the Fabia still keeps up on shorter sprints as the power is so accessible!

@@ChristopherGower for real? Your clio is amazing But the main point for me is reliability, those diesels run very low Egt compared to turbo (benzina, don't know how it is called in English, maybe petrol)
@robertbaldwin1773 жыл бұрын
Stock with remap it'll do 160bhp, with upgraded turbo and intercooler plus remap it's on the way to 190. You'll know if one's had a remap as it won't run out of steam by 4k rpm. 9 years I had one, still miss it now.

i have one of these and love it one of the first things you should do is get a good map and some lowering springs the car rides really well when crusing but when you are having a bit of fun its a bit boat like apart from that love them

This makes sense. It's pretty punchy at the moment. Because it's got the Hybrid Turbo and other work done the plan is to get it remapped to 220(ish) in the new year. I'll follow up with another video

It won't be 160bhp if it's been mapped, the blt engine they come with come out the factory at 150bhp standard, its probably around 180ish,although with the darkside intercooler on it, it's likely it has more than just a map.

@jamesgower97543 жыл бұрын
But then what would the standard fabia tdi be called ? Doesn’t make sense
@lukedunkerley4103 жыл бұрын
That’s all it needs to be called. A TDI. At 130hp it’s hardly a rocket ship. The VRS up is 170hp. There are loads of TDIs with just the TDI badge at 120/130
@jamesgower97543 жыл бұрын
@@lukedunkerley410 but the fabia vrs is called the fabia vrs also cause of the better trim it has compared to a standard version Also the video shows it’s the SE version and they came with a BLT lump running around 150 from standard which back then in its day wasn’t off the mark from other hatchbacks
@ChristopherGower3 жыл бұрын
I see your point, but a car doesn't have to have more power in order to earn another name. The VRS refers to the level of trim, like buying an S-LINE Audi or M-Sport BMW. The only TDI the MK1 Fabia would be comparable to is the Elegance, and let's be honest, it doesn't look anywhere near as cool!
