I have been in a 2013 octavia tsi 1.2l with 110hp with the trunk loaded as well as 4 people and it cruised at 140kmh for about 4.5 hours with no problem at all... pretty good I must say

Instead of that bluetooth connection tutorial. please measuer the dbA at certain speeds. Fast to do and informative if someone wants a quiet car.

I really wish reviewers would stop comparing it to a Golf. I get that it’s related to a Golf but in almost every way it’s a saloon. The way the boot opens shouldn’t be the main determinant of which competitors to compare it to. I’m betting most prospective buyers are comparing it to other saloons such as the Ford Mondeo, VW Jetta etc. since they do similar jobs of being a spacious family car.

Hi, I recently bought a new octavia, 1.5 TSI; and I already ran into an issue: avg. speed, consumption and distance reset randomly all three functions (current, long term and since refueling). Did anyone else have this problem, and what did you do with it? (Other than taking it back to the dealer).

The front is starting to grow on me. Although I've not seen one in the flesh yet. Though my next lease is going to be the petrol vrs estate. It offers all I want and need. How does the 1.4 work in the motorway. Had the new astra 1.4 turbo on loan last week, and it is a nice engine around town but lacked a bit on the motorway, and country lanes.

Please stop with the phone pairing on every video! Concentrate on practical features and how it is to drive. The Sat nav is virtually the same in all cars now! Especially all the VW group cars.

faisalleeds Agree...... I’d be more interested in how the speakers perform. A friend of mine bought a 3 series beemer 318d Sport and the audio speakers were very weak in that.

The phone pairing would be interesting to test Android Auto and Apple Car play compatibility, especially now when Waze has a beta version for Android Auto which if realeased should make sat-navs developed by auto makers obsolete, with the ammount of additional info it provides (from slow trafic routes, to potholes, workroad and police radars)

The Octavia is the perfect size I find because it’s bigger then a Ford Focus but smaller then a Ford mondeo. The boot is bigger then the mondeo its a really good practical car

Tests 1.4l and 1l engine variants... Compares it to the go-fast VW Golf hatch. Described speed as adequate... Yes I am sure it can reach motorway speeds given enough time, particularly enough time when loaded with 4 passangers and a full boot. But would you really want to do that? There is more to motorway and highway travel than top speed, acelleration is also a factor..

I'm thinking of getting an Octavia but as a total technophobe I'm a bit concerned at the comment at 3mins 12secs when she says I'm now going to see how easy it is to pair my phone and set a destination: I don't understand why she's linking these two actions - it would never cross my mind to want to pair my phone with anything: I use my phone to make calls and begrudgingly send the odd text when necessary. Does anyone know if it's possible to set a destination on the sat-nav with no connection to ones phone?

good review but one thing: It's useless. Most people don't care how sporty or engaging this mass product is. Most people want to get from A to B without having to empty their pockets and being ruined by running and maintenance costs. That's what nobody talks about.

Just had 1.5TSI DSG as a hire car for 2 days and 400 miles. Just about perfect and is now high up on the shortlist for my next car. With no instruction manual it took just a couple of minutes to pair my phone. No satnav but a spare wheel and cruise control. Almost 50mpg too. Impressive

Rolla, Maybe because aesthetics are purely up to the interpretation of the individual? One man's boring is another man's stylish. Skoda, VW, Audi, these cars are generally more focused on clear and precise 'no fuss' layouts. I find most Asian cars try to emulate Hot Wheels. But again, it's personal taste.

Just go for a fucking audi then, skodas are what they are, reasonable price for a great reliable car, want the extra stuff pay more and get it, at the end of the day thay all have the same engines if you wamt better interior go for the other vw cars simple

She looks very nice but speaks with a rather peculiar note snarling as a side effect. Speaking normally is recommended, more relaxing and easier. Just try it and there will be more and more thumbs pointing to the sky. Background drumming is more or less missing, thank you for that. Car buyers are seldom teens. Connecting your phone to car media makes sense for phone calls and nothing else until you can fully use any internet app or content via your car media. You need the own navigation of your car to be on the safe side. The wider screen is worse than narrower one because in real life you will like more the basic physical buttons than having all as virtual ones.

Wait. How did Audi A3 got mentioned in an Octavia review? I think the golf or focus is a fine comparison but an A3 is just a completely another thing. I had the fortune to use an octavia estate for a few weeks, and it is a perfect family car. You don't care about it, looks like a mid-level suit with a white shirt, nobody cares but it won't hurt anybody, it is OK. Value for money I think. But the diesel engine is just loud to my taste, go buy with petrol imo.

Have you ever driven one? 1.4tsi or 1.5tsi (both 110kw), awesome engines, enough power, low consumption.

@@fishunter007 No, I tried the 1.2 TSI one, and it didn't quite feel right in terms of its capability to overtake on one-lane-per-way roads. Figured the 1.4 would have a similar performance, even though it does have about 20-25 horsepower more, if I'm not mistaken. And sure, consumption was great in this case as well, but it's just as difficult to not like the 2.0 TDI.

Because trying to put a Czech accent on it, something like "Shkooda", sounds daft from a British throat. I own a Skoda Octavia 2019, and even though I know how to pronounce the brand, I call it "Skoda", as it's spelt without the Czech modifier.

If the Skoda's interior was any better there would be no point in them. Just get a VW or Audi instead. Skoda is a credible way of getting VW/Audi technology at a cheaper price.
