100% agree. Dealers are really devaluing trade in's also. I reckon from my experience dealers now aiming at 4k mark-up on trade in's in Ireland. Use to be around 2k. Keeping my own car going at this point between poor trade in value, high loan interest rates, it doesn't make a lot of sense to buy new or 2nd hand unless you're stuck. Since import rule change, vrt etc the Irish motor consumers being royally fleeced.

I'm not so sure we'll see a price correction as there is no outlet for the consumer as existed pre Brexit with UK imports. If new car sales dip, then as you mentioned, dealers simply increase used prices.

My own car is now 12 years old with 330,000kms on the clock. However with regular maintenance by me (garages just don’t do a good job in my experience),it’s in great nick and should go as long as I want it to. Yes Brexit all but eliminated the UK imports of cars and our own native dealers are milking the lack of supply of used cars for all its worth. However, when people stop buying, and they will with the coming credit crunch caused by interest rate hikes, what will car dealers do? Sit on their overpriced cars and go out of business or start cutting prices back to tempt the punters into the showrooms? I suspect the latter. Dealers that didn’t adapt back in the last credit crunch of the late noughties soon went out of business.

Absolutely agree. I bought a new Karoq in 2018 - the same spec car now would cost me another £10k . It’s now firmly out of my price range! Skoda’s are no longer the cheap alternative.

I have 1.5 TSI and 2.0 TSI 4X4. In 1.5 TSI,fuel c. is 5.0-5.1L - two cyl. off on slow speed), acceleraton is good. 2.0 TSI 4X4,fuel c. 6.2L (Under 3500 rpm ABS Short Valve lift,flaps Open after 3750 rpm).

Cupra is really great looking, if you need space though, this.

But Skoda has became much more advanced, they don’t really sell cars that are very basic The fabia starts at 19k but that car is more advanced then the sandero I get what your saying tho My mom had a felica and that was basic If they brought out a basic car then that car should be compared

Not a bother on it overall. Had one ‘drive in the centre’ warning but that was it.

Still very much glitchy. 231 plate vRS. Owned new since March 23. Despite software updates, it constantly freezes or restarts/reboots for no apparent reason. I did ask Skoda before I purchased if the infotainment system issues had been sorted and was told they had- they clearly haven't and customers being lied to.

Peugeot stuff is gorgeous looking these days alright. Ah as an all rounder though, hard to beat.
