The late great Fabio Danti drove some quite special machines during his short but illustrious career but the one the fans will certainly remember more his the quirky Skoda Octavia Wagon with which he won the Italian Touring Car class in the ITalian Championship of 1999.
Created and prepared by Skoda Italy, this machine used the 2.0 STW engine from the VW Group that produced around 310Hp/8.750Rpm to move a barely believable 870Kg of incredibly lightened Octavia Wagon.
A charismatic Hillclimb Racer driven by one of the all Time greats.

This was awensome car with legend Fabio Danti behind steering wheel. But is shame that in 2000 opponent teams complains forced to change rules to prevent this car attend in race again.

Like a train on tracks! Unbelievable... I drove octavia 1.6 petrol (company car) and must say it was fun to drive it hard... There's not much to expect from it but I had some good times on a road with it... :)

So much rear movement on a front wheel drive!!! That guy is the monster!! The car is his victim... That long wheelbase sure helped to produce predictable lift-off oversteer.

It's a false assumption that the wagons of the PQ34 platform have a longer wheelbase than the limousine type. they all have the same. What helps is the much better weight distribution. With a little modifications you can achieve 55/45, what's great for a FWD car.

310 bhp @ 8750?! 2.0 liter? I'd love to see the cams and compression of the engine to see numbers like that at such a 'low' rpm...

i highly doubt so carbon fibre isnt cheap esp in the 80-90 era mostly lots of weight shedding by removing the interior, changing the seats, using lightweight metals
