@@mills3375 I wouldn't consider the Skoda or Focus to be the 'better' cars, although the Focus is amazing to drive, they all turn out to be pretty close though, with the VW golf being jack of all trades.. Its just that, it really dull.. Even in some mid spec trims it really lacks the immediate attraction, and also it doesn't have a great driver reputation.. The badge snobs often opt for the golf and so you'll often see c*nts driving them.. Its a shame really, it just spoils a rather good image

ahmed, I accept English is not your 1st language but cheap they are not, lower priced, yes. As for Levin, at a fixed price point you cannot attain the feature level of Skoda with comparable class of Audi. Besides the A1 is as German as a Skoda, built in Belgium it shares it's platform with Polo, Ibiza and Fabia. Sure, spec up your A1 well and you have a great small car, but my Fabia Elegance cost less.

Just like all modern hatches I don't think it looks bad, but it's just bloody uninspired. The front end is similar to an Ibiza, the profile + back lights are similar to a Focus, while the back glass is very similar to Volvo's. I don't know, it's like everyone suddenly ran out of ideas. All new hatches resemble each other.

I disagree. Hatches don't look *that* similar, but small SUVs and crossovers, those are the ones that look too much like each other. Even in the VW group: the A3, the Golf and the Leon - they look nothing like each other. Now, for some reason, there's a trend for the rear lights to look like the Fiat Tipo's, but I've only seen the Focus and now the Scala to copy that, so it's not so bad. And that back glass is similar to Volvo's but they've done it in the Rapid too so it's nothing new for Skoda.

Too bad it has a bit of a stuck-on screen effect on the infotainment. If they made that flush with the rest it would be amazing. It still is pretty good though. Love the digital cockpit and the overall look of the interior. But I do get the feeling that the interior of the next gen Golf will make a huge leap compared to the current one, which is dull AF.

I just hope they keep a cheap "bigger" model as the Rapid was, a friend of mine got one brand new a few months ago and it's an amazing deal, the only thing it was missing was the option for a 1.5 TSI engine, tho the 1.0 TSI ran pretty well for how light the car was.

That's why the smaller and cheaper model had to keep the distance. So they decided to sell it as Skoda Rapid and Seat Toledo, but not under the VW brand. Search for "VW New Santana"...

And not every manufacturer did that, the limits were kind of lax and could be exceeded by a pretty wide margin - just not by 100x or more in some cases like VAG did. That's why their engines were so powerful proportionate to the amount they polluted. But yes, I agree that the limits were too drastic in the first place. The funny thing is that manufacturers are already being forced to implement GPF (gas particulate filter) devices on newer petrol engines so petrol will likely be in the same spot where emission restrictions are too much. Electric cars don't help either considering how hard the manufacture of batteries pollutes.

@Thomas Lörinczi They completely erased every single "muscle" that the Vison had on the sides (waist line and bottom), now is just a regular boring Skoda, with regular door handles, even the window lines are less "sharp". You don't need to make dramatic changes to erase the "essence" of a design, and the Vision R was all about those side lines. Hope they try to fix it in the RS version of this car.
