Great job for a first video...no stammering or struggling. Enjoyed listening to all of your video when I usually skip over to decor lol. TY for sharing. One day, I may pass u on the road.

Really nice video. Thanks. I used to drive a school bus in Illinois. when we had a problem driver we used to torture them in the winter. you slowly pour water over the rear tires letting it build up to several layers of ice making it impossible to move the bus. then of course laugh when the driver would call into dispatch saying the bus wouldn't move.

Make sure you have the inside of your roof properly sealed with reflectix...myst have 3/4 inch air gap between roof and tge product. Also coat the outside of your roof with Henry's tropical. Do this and watch the temp drop drastically inside the bus

very kool conversion... for the heating & cooling i would like to suggest using ceramic window film & tinting even on the dront windshield. it will help kill the heat magnification from the sun but of course don't try to grow anything in the vehicle as it would just be a soil drying project because the ceramic film kills or reduces UV & damaging rays that produces heat. hope that helps.

Thanks for reminding us that it is a VEHICLE So many skoolie videos focus on where the sneakers get stored and spice racks and such. I think that why people end up selling their buses as soon as something mechanical fails. Diesel engines last but not without help.

@staymarco4063 ай бұрын
Thanks Wayne. Yes we do still have the bus. I don't know that I would change anything on the build to be honest. Interesting timing, my wife just told us that she would like to sell it. Her bus, her decision, but we can agree, with the kids in college, it doesn't get the attention it needs. If you're interested and ever in florida, give us a shout!

We are thinking about converting a skoolie. I was wondering what you used for insolation? We plan to winter down south but know there are few places it doesn't get chilly. We also want to be safe if we have to return to Iowa in the winter for some reason.
@Robisme6 жыл бұрын
Instead of saying how much it cost. You could say, "If I would do it again, I would have spent X amount of dollars". Used this type of bus, Cut costs by using more salvage, Pay more for certain problems, etc.

how high does your EGT get before you back off? how many RPM's does that Cummins turn when cruising down the interstate? and how many MPG do you typically get?
@chrisniner87727 жыл бұрын
You can pick up a forced air heater that takes the engine coolant heat.. I picked one up surplus from a motel remodel that they had extras.. no sense running a furnace when you are cooking off diesel.. and painting the roof white dramatically cools the vehicle. I couldn't believe the difference when I painted mine white.

@adamdaughtrey86766 жыл бұрын
how much did you have to spend for the galvanized metal on the sides where the bus windows originally were?
@rattraceproductions1826 жыл бұрын
Adam Daughtrey Not sure I remember that It wasn’t galvanized, it was sheet metal. I’d say all in about $300 or so I had them sheer the full sheets for me. Then I just put them up, overlapping about 4 inches or so, and drilled and screwed them to the existing vertical window support frames. I then made a window template and cut the holes with a plasma cutter.

I have a silly question..I plan. On doing this in the spring...what did you use to cover the windows...
@rattraceproductions1826 жыл бұрын
Leo Hernandez Once the Windows were removed, we covered them with a light gauge steel. Then the new Windows were installed by using a plasma cutter to make the openings.
@whitneywoodall76987 жыл бұрын
When you replaced the bus windows with RV windows did you add any additional support where you took out the original window supports?
@rattraceproductions1827 жыл бұрын
The RV style windows only required the removal of one or two of the existing vertical supports. It was not necessary to do any reinforcement prior to installation. The final installment has the exterior steel wall, 1 1/2 inch rigid blue board insulation and the 1/8" interior paneling to sandwich together between the windows interior and exterior frames.

dchubb42 Not sure, I know it is a Dometic unit. Just look for the one that has comfort height seating. As for the door, I made a rod and Allison sewed a curtain that works very well. Pocket doors are nice, But can rattle annoyingly, and take up quite a bit more wall space.

Put a wall up between your bed and your kids bed. They need privacy even if you don't.
@rattraceproductions1826 жыл бұрын
April Davis we actually have curtains that we pull to give the boys their privacy. It forms an enclosure for both of them. We are considering redesigning the bunk beds to be on one side and create more storage on the other. When we do that we will incorporate a more permanent solution to the privacy issue.
