Just got push with Ableton Intro. It's apparent that learning ableton is key. BUt part of that seems to be building a significant library of sounds and clips. Because the basic package with Intro has some pretty vanilla sound/instrument packages.

wow dude, really well put together. Still just trying to get comfortable with normal mode but user mode really seems to be Push grows up. Between this and max, the ceiling of what counts as "pro" just got a whole lot higher.

B. Tickles Unfortunately, when using User mode, the screen is blank and you will have to manually map the encoders to your desired FX.

Ok I changed to my other PC and here it doesnt work anymore... The keys are mapped wrong on my Push... I Press note 79 and it plays g3 and thats just an examle.. every note is moved and i even reinstalled it so it has to be my push what did i do wrong?

42nextgensounds Props all go to Nev for sharing his Original Launchpad project. Link can be found in the description. You may try and ask him maybe. I believe it's a combination of recreating the sounds and sampling from the original track.

I must say what you are doing here is quite epic! I am interested in exploring more the Push user mode, but am not able to get reliable information on using it. I downloaded your als project file for this song, but it does not work with Live 9 and a push purchased quite recently. In particular I can trigger the tracks you configured to run via midi trigger (the ones on the left side of the pad), but I can't get any of the pad buttons to light, nor trigger anything with them. Help and useful links and resources would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Have fun!

hello, yes I've gotten word that the project file doesn't seem to be playable. I will look into it ASAP. Search for Julien Bayle. julienbayle.net/ Most of what I know about the Push User Mode came from his site.

Just tried to download the project again. It's working fine on my end. Try to go through the Push Setup and Project Setup photos again. Maybe you missed something.

I setup everything exactly as is detailed in the photos, but it will not work. Could it be that my push has a different firmware version? Also which sections of Julien Bayle's website have information on the Push User Mode? I was only able to find pictures of his exhibitions, but no real technical information.

***** Hello Sir. Try to look into the JPG files included in the download entitled "1 Push Setup" and "2 Project Setup". They are screen caps of my setup, YOUR setup may look different; but the routing should be similar for the lights to show up. :) Try and troubleshoot first, it should work. Message me again if you still can't figure it out. Nev did most of the work, I just did the reprogramming. :) Enjoy the project file!

hey how do you map the buttons on the side to be chain selectors? I can't find a way to do it

AznIndustriez try to check the project file. can't seem to remember how I did it actually. or try this, this has made chain selecting easy for me www.maxforlive.com/library/device.php?id=189 or.... assign the chain selector to a macro, the macro is midi mapped to all the buttons involved. then fix the min/max value so that the particular button jumps to a particular number (chain)

Hi, I want to start making covers of songs using Ableton Push , however it seems complicated. I know how to sample and warp songs, but not setting up my Ableton Push similar to a Launchpad. If you could please help me out, or link me videos to get started that would be great, thanks!

The way I do it is by placing my samples in a Drum Rack, and then using Push 2 in User Mode. Although the latest updates of Live allow a 64 pad drum rack so that makes it a bit easier to access all 64 samples (but this is minus any kind of light show animation).

Jeff Gao I'm sorry? This is a MIDI controller, all sounds come from Ableton and USB audio interface.

Phy MiX I have no access to a computer ATM, you may download the project file and dissect how I went about this though. I'll take a look at the project ASAP. AFAIK, Chain selector could be set up as a Macro.

+BJ GAINES It's basically a drum pad laid out over an 8x8 grid, giving you 64 drum pads to play with. It's playing back samples. It's called the Ableton Push Sir. You can check out their website www.ableton.com for more details. It's around $800

How did you transfer it? I have so many project files and I can barely use them with push because they are made for Launchpad

It was no easy task my good Sir, but when you get it; it should be pretty straight forward. Each sample was transferred manually to the respective box, as the Push and the Launchpad MIDI / Note assignments are not similar. Look into the manual of the Launchpad and for the Push look into Julien Bayle's work. Julien has documentation on the Note On assignments on Push.

Bryan D Who is Julien? Thank you for your answer... Since you already know how it works... Would you make a quick tutorial with an example? Doesnt have to be with such a huge pattern but at least a 4x4 pattern and how you switch it by pressing 1/32 and so on...

In the meantime, you may download the project file in the description and try to dissect how I mapped things. I believe there are several tutorials over here at youtube describing the basics of creating colored patterns for the Launchpad, the concept is the same for the Push.

download the project file and then try to watch the video over and over again :) until you find the right pad pattern. This is how I learned using the original project file from Nev.
