If he was so important, he wouldn’t be forgotten 11 years later. Fact of the matter is that dubstep was one of those phases that was a product of its time. It became popular just as basically everyone was getting used to smart phones and that new era of technology. But it isn’t organic music as much as it is computer programs and some synth. Even the album Torches by Foster the People, one that has more organic instrumentation than Skrillex and came out around the same time, seems to now just be a product of the time. It all falls into the churn of pop music.

I wonder if Skrillex did it on purpose, but I can distinctly hear “Baby you’ve got power” or something like that. Considering the samples were taken from his older song “Equinox”, it’s not as easy as if he’d take some prerecorded samples and insert it. If Skrillex did this job of finding the proper sample moments in Equinox so they sound like a phrase that makes sense, playing it backwards, then holy crap, Skrill, you’re awesome. Back in the days I used to show this song to people and say that it helps me overcome stress, they said it’s stupid, because this is a silly dubstep song.
