The same company that made Black Flag has now released Skull & Bones in hopes of being a service game with microtransactions upon an unsuspecting consumer base ready to chomp at your wallets with a subpar product to a game they released 11 years ago.
Skull & Bones is a travesty 11 years in the making : Cooking up another release that AT BEST could be a decent game in 5 years.
The amazing amount of disappointment in 2024 for Ubisoft to release Skull & Bones in this state with this lack of gameplay and assumed features is another mark on big corporate producers of trying to dump nonsense and unfinished videogames on us and expecting us to pick up the bill.

Oh man i remember when i was hyped for this... 10 heckin years ago now!!!! Also lol at how they turned it into some modern bs instead of a pirate game. I still say Pirates of the Burning Sea and Pirates Online are the best online pirate games.

Seems like years ago I heard this game was tied up in development hell due to some contract with the government of Singapore or something along those lines? I dont know all the details, but it sounds like it went super belly up early on, but they were contractually obligated to finish it or something, so they ended up releasing.... this. I dont know if I have those details right, but if so, that may help explain at least some of this disaster.

The CEO was the one announcing this was AAAA, what a joke, he just said that to justify the selling price of the game. I guess he thinks us " the consumer" we are idiots that believe it, he probably took all the money that should be invested on the game for his vacation time, I'm sure the shareholders are not happy

@@mcpumii_ have you seen others review about the game, after 11 years of "development" and this game is worst than the mechanics assassin's creed black flag, I'm a big fan of pirates games and I'm disappointed, and also because this is a live service game, this game is not worth it if 70 dollars

I’m not even an avid follower of gaming at the moment, but I’ve been openly critical about Ubisoft 😂 I try to keep my criticism to things I know and as much as I don’t follow game developers too much lately, I sure as hell can spot bullshit from a mile away. And they are working overtime trying to sell it 🤷♂️

For a while there movies/games were an ouroboros of Vampires and Pirates. Skull & Bones will be the herald of the new Legacy of Kain game, this I swear.

Played the open beta for 10 minutes, after harpooning a shark on the little raft like my characters arm was a full auto AR-15 with holosun scope. I longingly looked out my window, gazing into the lush green, exhaled the air from my lungs in a sigh. Thinking "There must be more to life than this?" Proceeded to uninstalled the game and stood up and went on with my day. Btw great monsters & memories vid! Excited for it!!!

On the other hand, I am starkly against cancelling games that workers have been working hard on for years... like what some publishers did very recently to over 25 studios! That game was doomed not to be an acclaimed success, but I respect that it was completed and released. If you are going to invest millions in development, might as well release it. At the least the team knows they did it, will improve it, and move on.

For many reasons, yes. Teachers of management should study Ubisoft to show their students what not to do (I am serious. They have severely bad direction and internal procedures, beyond discussion about the games as such).

The point of everyone's shock is that this took 11 years to do exactly what it did and didn't do, it's an actual mystery how it took a professional AAA studio 11 years to make a product they made 11 years ago worse

Comparing this to blackflag would be like playing sim city and complaining that you cant romance your next door neighbor like you can in the Sims its a different genre blackflag is an action -adventure game skull and bones is a trade and resource management game not an action or combat focused game at all its a joke these reviews
