My Remington is two years old. I use it twice a week. Highly recommended.

I bought the Balder Pro and it's been two months with no problems yet. I do not rinse off the main unit with water, only the blades. I also followed the instructions of charge it first before using and only recharge when red light is showing. I also lube the unit frequently.

Very good quick comparison, thank you. Skull Shaver has improved the reliability of its Pitbull range it seems. I myself started with the Remington RX-5. It cuts quite well but can be irritating to the scalp compared to the Pitbull (against the Pitbull Forte blade’s rounded blade edges). The RX-5’s battery life is not very good, either. It does, however, in my case, cut better behind the ears than does the Pitbull, with the Remington’s blade edges being closer to the edge of the cartridge and the slightly narrower profile of the cartridge itself. Lastly, I have the Pitbull Platinum, and have not had an issue with any chrome paint peeling off. I never use hot water when rinsing any of the parts that can be rinsed; only tepid water. I oil the blades every 2 to 3 weeks, and use the shaver every second day. The spare blades now come with a small bottle of oil, where once a month oiling is recommended, which is insufficient in my opinion. Dave, Australia (baby boomer)

I have not had the Remington, but I did buy the top of the line Pitbulll. It stopped working after a year or so.

I own both And they both work very well 👌 I also own the micro touch head shaver and it also works great 👍

Got a pitbull gold today, so much better than the remington rx9, kind of bought by mistake. The main difference other than the better shave was the lack of water mess. The remington was a shirt off kind of thing and the mess it left on the counter top while it was drying was annoying me. The water just seems to get out of the pitbull way better. It's so much nicer to use.

The Pitbull did a fantastic job. However, after exactly two years mine just stopped working. Wont charge, no light, nothing. I only used it maybe twice a month. Kept it clean etc. So I'm reluctant to by another one.

My last 2 pitbulls gold series lasted less than 2 years the battery dies and even at full charge the motor quits every 5 seconds, its expensive and there is a well known issue and this company still has the same problem and Im not buying it again

Bought the Remington RX 5 great while it lasted then it died on me less than 2 weeks after buying it, so just ordered the Pit Bull Pro Silver.

I'll never buy remington again, bought an rx5 and it broke within a month, never charging, got a replacement, and again within a month it broke.

They both broke on me after the FIRST CHARGE. I will try the Freebird next, wish me luck.

I have the pitbull and almost bought the Remington today for a car/backpack backup. I don’t believe reviews that say one is better than another because I know how people are and they just say whatever they have is better. I don’t know this guy but I doubt he’s on a mission on KZfaq is to ruin Remington although he’s convinced me to buy another pitbull over the Remington even if it’s just for a backup. I Just ordered the bit bull platinum. I currently have the babyliss foil shaver and I love it. I wanted the pit bull to wet shave with because the babyliss fx3 is only dry shave. I do love my babyliss though for sure

The Pitbull costs over double the amount of the X5. Makes sense. Ive looked at longterm reviews of the RX5, none of them has that sound you have.

Do you have a link to a video, which shows how to get the 5 razor blades off / free to clean them ? ( the engine stops, when you put the lid with the razor blades on ! ) Thanks)

Maybe you have dropped it 1 or 2 times because it sounds like a ball bearing damage. Btw i have the Skull shaver silver edition.

Would you recommend the pitbull platinum over the gold? I have the gd and have been happy with it, but I need a new one as I broke my a while back a d glued it back together, (yrs it still works) but I am needing to replace the blades so I will have to replace e the whole thing. The Balder pro quit working after six uses. Its made of mostly cheap plastic, even the drive spindles. Total junk!

What ever you do don't get the Remington

Please do not buy remington RX5, I barely got x1 use out of it. Item in bin as spindles broken, terribly designed. Please look at the 1 star reviews, I really believe most online reviews are fake (even on Argos). I have never owned a product where ive binned the item before ive used it once. I lost faith in Remington and should not of purchased the RX5.
