Great idea wiring the cathode of the output tube to the headphone jack. Anyone wanting a headphone amp, could just build your tube headphone adapter. I built one for a customer, and they love it.

I had a look at the 6LU8 (unfamiliar to me) which going by the data sheet is the cool big brother of the ECL82. I don't think we ever had this tube in Europe where TVs would have been using European designed tubes. This is a really nice choice for a minimalist amp with good looks. I hope it finds an appreciating new home soon.

Of all those the R8 sounds the most interesting. I want to hear it but I currently rock an R800i 845. I don't think I could ever go to an R8, but I'd love to see your mods on the R800i 845!!!

is that a pack of Ilford b+w photo paper in the background? Do you have a darkroom? Wow, I ran a photo lab back in the early 80's and haven't seen iflord stuff for decades. Top quality stuff for sure. Anyway, if you come across any old HF transceivers for sale or any recent digital oscilloscopes or arbitrary waveform gens... I'm very interested.
