Even after 3 years after having watched the movie, I'm still having a hard time getting over how the Teacher had used overkill on JIn-Roh! He didn't have to circle around Jin-Roh like that, but I think that the Teacher could tell that it was one of his clones when Jin-Roh performed *_Pugachev's Cobra_* which both Jin-Roh and Teacher use in this movie. I've tried this maneuver myself in video games, and it's pretty neat when someone is tailing you in a dog fight. However, in real life, very few people can actually pull this off. It's sad that there doesn't appear to be any end to the horrors that the kildren face. You'd think that the kildren would stop killing each other and turn on their makers for making them fight in the first place.

What is the story here you seem to have a better idea than me so I was just curious

+Luis Martinez As best I can gather, the world is pretty much at peace because someone figured out that Humans needed a low level violent outlet, otherwise we'd bottle it up inside until it blew up to the point nations went to war (and with modern weapons, that's a bad idea). So they decided a 1984-style war, where Mother/Fatherlands are not directly threatened with invasion was the best option. Since it was immoral to send people to war for no 'real' reason (defeating an enemy bent on your capitulation or whatever), they created the Kildren; clones, who were 'born' trained and ready to fight at a apparently a barely pubescent age (why bother growing the clones to full adulthood when you're just going to kill them anyway). They never really question the war because few live long enough to worry about such things. The Teacher is supposed to be an adult who isn't originally a Kildren, and who switched sides in the war at a point before the movie starts, and who fights because they want to, rather than having been indoctrinated into it.

Luis Martinez , to add to or correct what TheOneWhoMightBe said, the original fighters were adults, and the kildren weren't originally created for war. One of the kildren Midori, seems to recall when the kildren were first created, though she doesn't remember from where she knew this. It seems that the kildren were created by accident. Later, someone got the idea to use them in their war games. Otherwise, the kildren can live forever. The original participants of this "sport" were all paid fighter pilot mercenaries. But, with the invention of kildren, they started phasing adults out. Some opposed this, and some people, one of them briefly seen in the movie, have a prejudice against kildren. This last bit of information is not in the movie, though, but in the game that acted as a prequel to the movie. The Teacher is the last of the original pilots. Yuichi Kannami (Jin-Roh) is the Teacher's clone. Suito Kusangi used to serve under the Teacher and there seems to have been something between them or her original. The Teacher deliberately avoided killing her when he shot her plane down.

Luis Martinez , if it wasn't for the game then you would get the impression that the Teacher was another kildren turned into an adult. The fact that his DNA was Rostock's intellectual property would give you that impression. And, it kind of seemed, at least in the subtitled version on CrunchyRoll before dubbed version was released, that Kusanagi and the Teacher also had a romantic relationship. And, the fact that she develops romantic relationships with all of his clones only seems to add to that theory. There's also the novel series which might provide more insight, but I never read any of them, so I can't comment from them.

Suito Kusanagi has the physical development of a 14-year-old, but is allowed to drive a really expensive-looking Porsche or Jaguar convertible. I would go watch it again on Netflix, but they appeared to have taken it down. :/
