We are happy to do it, but not that long. That length of cable would cause the antenna to run far out of balance and kill performance.

@@CAGreve1231 I'm assuming the Cyclops does better in a real "long range" test, but my flying is more penetration than distance. I'm about 500ft through a metal building and 3 or 4 large oak trees. But these do better than a Cyclops pointed in that direction.

Issues with null zones are a big thing here

It "squishes" the radiation pattern, so while you gain horizontal coverage, you lose vertical coverage. The nulls are bigger on the sky hammer.

@@KevPV Nailed it. The axial ratio is much higher (which means better clarity) but the pattern is flatter.

You need to put a video out for the best antenna setup for the DJI FPV system and they would sell like gold bars.

Never horizontal. Two vertical or slanted ~15-20 degrees to the side would do well, though.

We had to use a wrench to tighten the right angle nut so the antenna would stay up. It kept falling down if I moved my head, so I had to be very still.

The antenna should always be upright with the elements "stacked" on top of each other. I would not recommend this antenna for use on a fixed wing aircraft that banks more than 20 degrees in a turn due to the flattened radiation pattern.

You always want the highest axial ratio possible as this is the ability to rotate the signal. You might opt for lower gain in an antenna like the Mad Mushroom. However, I would probably opt for a Crosshair Xtreme since the Sky hammer has a lobe directly over top to cover above yourself.

@@CAGreve1231 Sorry I always get the meaning of axial ratio mixed up, I meant the angle / gain. Thanks for the advice, the Crosshair Xtreme looks like it would be a good fit. Maybe a product idea could be an all-in-one version for diversity receivers giving full coverage - Essentially a SkyHammer with a Crosshair Xtreme (Or a slightly lower gain version?) physically mounted on top so that the alignment remains the same, with just two SMA connectors coming out of the side for the receivers. I've noticed a few of these SkyHammers with bent cables, meaning that the two Omnis are not perfectly lined up so that could also be something to add physical support to.

The antenna works the same on every module, so there is no need to worry about compatibility.

Flying mostly level, yes. I do not recommend it for sport planes or stunt flying. You can use it for added range so long as you do not bank sharply.

There are a few people who have been using these on the DJI systems and are going 3 miles. However, I have not yet flown with anything but the Cyclops antenna on my own DJI HD system.

Absolutely! We include an extension cable, but ideally you would use a right angle adapter on either end of the cable to get it above your head.

You can run either. I would run a Crosshair Xtreme, honestly. I avoid patch antennas as they do not perform very well.

it's a somewhat directional antenna in the sense, that it is more of a reception disk, instead of a sphere and you want a near isotrotic radiator on the quad, because that thing is moving, but your head is not

This could work well on Long range quads. Since they typically don't change pitch greatly in flight this would do well for them... so long as you don't plan on doing flips down the side of a mountain 3 miles out.

Best is relative to your needs. For TX, the Minion is my favorite. For RX, the Sky Hammer.

@@CQCTUMP - It is in the Radiation pattern. The Minion has an inverse reverse pattern which helps with environments like flying through the woods. The Ion Pro is for maximum range in an open area.

@@CQCTUMP - You need high axial ratio on BOTH ends to minimize interference. Focusing on only one isn't going to do you any good. Antennas work together so both need to be good quality with good rotational capabilities.

@@tommcdonald6371 - Like I said: all the tools in the World won't help if you don't know how to use them. If a Split S maneuver improves your signal then you are doing 2 things wrong: 1. This is a RECEIVER antenna, NOT a transmitter antenna 2. You have it mounted incorrectly. It should be vertical like the video shows. This antenna goes 8 miles on 5.8GHz with a Minion Pro on the transmitter without issue. It has been done many times. Use it correctly and you will have far better results.
