The video shows that one needs to press ENTER after having centered the first object in the eyepiece. (4:25). This should of course be ALIGN.

Great video, that is about 90-95% of what Celestron SCT owners need for the first couple of times they to perform a 2 star or 3 star alignment. Sending it to a friend who is getting their first Celestron SCT telescope with a VX mount..

I think this is a fine video that clarifies the centering process which has been a bit confusing due to the change in direction when the slew rates drop below 6; also, information from the blogosphere does not comport with these explanations. But to see the proper buttons pushed for the final two moves to the center of the eyepiece makes it all clear: thanks for producing this.

@norske92287 жыл бұрын
Lauri Raudsepp right?? did it work you mean in that configuration or order??
@Engineer97367 жыл бұрын
Lauri Raudsepp I guess because of the same reason why you tension guitar strings 'upwards' and not by softening the tension. The gears of the motor will always have a tiny bit of slack in them. By having the motors push the different parts upwards, instead of only guiding them down, you prevent those parts from hicking up and then 'falling down' in once.
@lauriraudsepp56766 жыл бұрын
Thanks man - good answer. Still takes practice to get it just right! Sometimes it seems as though I've sucessfully aligned my telescope but then it just keeps moving and moving and moving withouth stopping at the correct point.

Hello, i have recently purchased a Celestron 8SE (Cassegrain). Ive been having many alignment issues. in time i put in the time (military).i had just put 00,15,00 or 12:15 AM, i had a successful 3 object alignment.it is January 24 2016 and have been ready to view of the 5 Perfect planet lineup phenomenon. After the successful skyAlign (with the moon in its last phase, and almost directly north of me) i had entered for the telescope to align to the moon. The telescope auto aligned to a complete different direction of the moon. Obviously the telescope isnt doing something wrong, i am. Do i need to buy something for my telescope. Please Respond back i know i will love my telescope if i can just work it the right way, i have had my telescope for over 3 months and have only seen the moon/Stars. I have hit a dead end wall and have no experts or anything i have to help me. I have searched through the manual various amount of times. Thank You, God Bless.

How do you "Re-Align" if a tripod leg is bumped? I've tried shutting off and re-doing alignment, but the previous failed alignment was held in memory. It will not allow a re-alignment.

I don't understand how I can choose three random bright stars and the scope brain knows which stars were picked . The scope must know which three in order to align itself with the polar axis. Is it as simple as there aren't that many bright stars to choose and any three stars I choose have different enough triangles to deduce only one conclusion ?
@troliskimosko5 жыл бұрын
basically yea
@jessmac18935 жыл бұрын
Basically, yes. There are only so many "bright stars" and thus there are a known number of angles between them for the given place on Earth and time you are looking. Once you set the location and time, it essentially sets its database so it knows the angles of the bright stars. When you set align on the three stars, it runs some calculations between the angles you selected and compares it to the database.

ok...so I set up my 130 SLT last night to capture the milk moon, using sky align to use three stars to align the scope. After, I hit Solar System and when the word moon arrived I pressed the enter button. The scope slewed to the moon, HOWEVER, when finished, I could only see the left side of the moon (the slewing moved too far so the moon was partially out of frame). Now I am in a bind as I do not know how to slew the scope as hitting the direction buttons are useless at this point. Please, put up a video THAT SHOWS HOW TO SLEW this scope to get the celestial object in frame!
