As someone who gets bored easily during movies, I was so captivated by this movie that I watched the entire movie in one sitting. Definitely Oscar worthy.

I always find it interesting how protesting against war gets conflated with not supporting the troops. If you think a given conflict is needless and unjust, there's no better way to support the troops by calling to bring them home.

People always do that with a war, particularly Vietnam, and in this case it is somewhat justified in the fact that SOME protesters spit on returning Vietnam War soldiers. It was a disgrace that tarnished that entire movement.

Yes but remember how when the vietman vets got home, they were spit on…literally spit on and called baby killers and horrible horrible names. The disrespect they experienced after most of them were DRAFTED and dragged away from there homes to a place they didnt want to be either is unimaginable and totaly unacceptable

@@literallyeverybodyvlogs7117 Well I wasn't born until Reagan was in office, so no I don't "remember", but I do know that was a thing that happened. But this sort of makes my point... it's been a long time since Vietnam and people like myself are able to decouple the troops sent to Iraq & Afghanistan from the lying politicians responsible. But sadly people would rather wear yellow ribbons and scream about supporting our troops without asking why we're asking them to fight and die in the first place.

“There’s no better way”. … sure, if you put some effort in to understand what their perspectives are. There are too many twats on the outside unwilling or unable to put themselves in anyone else’s shoes but still running their mouths
