About 1970 when I was a kid in Springfield Oregon was with my parents in a parking lot about to walk into a supermarket. Suddenly a tangled parachute landed maybe ten feet in front of us. We pulled at it, looking for the person. Suddenly a man in skydiving gear ran up and said “Hey, that’s mine!” His main chute failed to open so he ditched it, and it almost landed on us. Fortunately he had a backup chute, and it worked. 😊
