m.ravel's rather youthful work, sonatine, was composed after jeux d'eau and the string quartet and finished in 1905. a colourful but reserved work, layered with impressionistic harmonies yet keeping to classical forms, it is no doubt a work worth exploring and analysing. ravel's obsession with the sonata form is exemplified in this first movement modéré. stay tuned for the video analysis for the next two movements!

Fantastic analysis! I have been considering making similar videos to analyze the music of Claude Debussy, and I was wondering how you edit your videos? Like, what program do you use to get the sheet music to appear while you play

thank you so much! please go ahead and make analysis videos as well; good ones of the 20th century french composers are hard to find on youtube for some reason! i only use final cut pro but it does involve some rather heavy editing!
