A series of clips I shot while traveling along Skyline Divide in Shenandoah National Park and the entire Blue Ridge Parkway, in October 2011. If ever you have the opportunity, do this.

When I was 11 I was sent a calendar depicting those landscapes. I am 43 now and those images captured my mind so profoundly I felt like seeking them on KZfaq to raise my spirits.

WOW! That was fast. I've been on the Skyline Drive in Virginia on the Blue Ridge Parkway twice, on the way to see my sister, Ann Emerson and her family, who lived in Groveton, New Hampshire, at the time. I'm glad you showed a tunnel on that video, because I am a tunnel nut, or tunnel aficionado.

I did the Shenandoah section twice o motorcycle. The second time it rained most of the trip until we got going into Tennessee. It was sunny on the way back so we did it again. So I guess I did it three times. Nice vid. Brings back memories, even the rain. Maybe I’ll head back Dow for some fall foliage.

very beautiful. and I realize it probably isn't intentional (and I don't mean to sound snotty, either), but this does show a revealing juxtaposition between the beauty and tranquility of life in it's more natural form, and the madness and speed by which we most often motor right through it and over it.

This is awesome! Love how you fast forwarded through the drive and then spent time just taking in the peace and quiet. I'm in Asheville right now and want to drive this route, but I understand some tunnels have very low clearance and I'm driving a class c RV. Not sure I want to risk it.

that smokey part through the mountains .was it on blue ridge park way ?
@penetrode8 жыл бұрын
+surimaribo24 Yes.. the clips seen throughout the video were basically in order of the trip I made from the north end of Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, all the way down to the end of the Blue Ridge Parkway where it ends in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so the parts in question were pretty far south.

@jasonwelch62654 жыл бұрын
That's the Linn Cove Viaduct. It's not a proper overlook like you'd think. You have to park a little ways up the road and walk to that spot. The Linn Cove visitors center is not too far from there. There's a trail that goes underneath the road you see in the video. There are small shallow caves under there too. A very enjoyable hike.

Very interesting take on the video, and a awesome place to see in person, the video is great, but nothing is a good as being there in your own shoes, seeing it with your own eyes, while being on a motorcycle of course, just have to be extremely careful in so doing !
@forestgreenorgangeekclaire86295 жыл бұрын
ylism I am not into motorcycles but I would love to ride in a car on the BRP. The view is beautiful. BTW I don't drive but I ride spec-tran, and I made a video of the scenery in my favorite neighborhood this morning. It's my favorite neighborhood because the park is right there and just before the park there is a sign indicating that that area is protected, no rezoning or deforestation allowed. I love that park, and I am so fortunate to ride by it every day.
