Sky's Ashish Joshi has been to Blackpool where many residents have to decide between heating or eating, as the cost of living crisis continues to hit the Lancashire town.
The government says it is acting to help the most vulnerable communities in areas like Blackpool.
A spokesman said: "We are already tackling health disparities in the North West of England - including working to reduce drugs-related deaths in Liverpool and Blackpool, supporting struggling families to give children in the poorest communities the best start in life, and addressing inequalities among some of the region's most vulnerable groups, such as homeless people, prison leavers and sex workers."
He added: "We will set out further action through a white paper later this year."

I firmly believe the energy companies have jacked up the price far more than they needed too, it's a very shady business and one where assets are often hidden from the eyes of the government and public alike.

Same I understand companies need and want to make profit and I’m all for that. But all the energy companies particularly the big 6 complaining that the costs of energy have gone up and will have to raise the prices. However I’m annoyed that there claiming this however are making record profits. Come the next price cap increase we need to properly asses at what price would these companies not make excess profit
@christopherblackburn6811

There are rules they have to follow. In a select committee I saw the heads of energy companies explain that they couldn’t just pass on their profits to people with cheaper prices as their legal responsibility was to maximise profit for their shareholders. I’m not saying energy companies are saints but the government can do more than them.

The poor man in the beginning will perish and die before this year's end if he doesn't get help from the authorities. How can it be so dire in the UK, a country in the West? We are experiencing somewhat higher energy prices in Sweden but not by much and our energy prices has always been lower than most countries so we are ok. Everyone eats as usual and no one is even remotely close to shutting down the heating here, the price of food is pretty much the same, our equivalent of the NHS is working excellently and there are no backlog or queues for surgeries. The inflation is somewhat higher but that goes for all countries right now, it has not had any effect because the government is handling it in order to minimize the consequences of it. Nowhere in Western Europe does it look even close as bad as it does in the UK and I wonder why, the people of the UK probably do too so please scientifically analyse it and explain it, Sky News.

Its bad here because our government are trying to take us back to the 1800's when elistism and class segregation was rife. The Conservative party are only interested in the rich and really do not care about the vunerable and the poor or those on lower wages. They have only one slogan and that is "We are alright so fu*k the working masses" They have always had this view and these days they are more cruel and cold hearted than ever. I am British, but I am ashamed of my country. Boris Johnson and his party have made us the laughing joke of the western world and they will not suffer. It's only the working classes who continue to suffer because the Conservative party have no hearts and no compassion. There is no science needed in the analysis. It's plain simple cruelty.

I remember bathing in a tin bath in the early 70s and we only had one coal fire for the whole house 2 up 2 down terrace house…my gran bought us a paraffin heater off the second hand market to warm the bedroom up..but we couldn’t afford to have it on long because the paraffin was expensive…my mam bought lots of blankets to keep us warm then when we got a council house in 1982 that house had no central heating either just one gas fire for the whole house it wasn’t till 1992 they modernised the houses and we got central heating my mam was chuffed to bits because she always had coal fires for 40 odd years! But now in 2022 she can’t afford to have it on only one hour a night how sad is that in this day and age and my dad in his 80s he was sat there the other day with his cardigan on I was fuming it hurts me seeing my parents like this
