‘Solid performance’: Barnaby Joyce hails Peter Dutton’s ‘brave’ budget reply

Shadow Veterans Affairs Minister Barnaby Joyce has hailed Opposition leader Peter Dutton for his “brave” budget reply speech on Thursday night.
“I liked the way he laid down the path towards having baseload power back in our grid under nuclear,” Mr Joyce told Sky News Australia.
“I like the way he was brave enough to say that what we had in the Labor Party budget was billions of dollars for billionaires.”

In the year ending 30 June 2023, overseas migration contributed a net gain of 518,000 people to Australia's population. Labor's policy when Albanese was PM, was like opening the hotel door when the hotel was full. My suggestion is make Peter Dutton the new hotel manager. He did a good job when he was the Minister.

On a serious note, the Secretary of the Treasury needs to be sacked. He was one of the architects of JobKeeper being too excessive and not targeted - helping fuel inflation which persists to today. Now that he works for the Labor team with the change of government, he is pretending to be doing pseudo economics by advising on a $300 sugar hit to artificially get inflation down temporarily. The guy is untouchable in Canberra - even Chalmers, being relatively young and a graduate in political science rather than an economist, is intimidated by him. Philip Lowe lost his job over this whole inflation mess yet the guy who sat on the RBA Board and leads Treasury is the teflon bureaucrat.
