Chris Kenny has called out a climate change activist’s “fantasies” as the Sky News host argues the “fanciful magic pudding economics” surrounding renewables are not based on facts or cost-benefit analysis.
Louisiana Senator John Kennedy questioned Olympic skier Gus Schumacher after the 23-year-old was invited to a Senate Budget Committee to address the impact of climate change on the environment and recreational activities.
The Senator asked the American cross-country skier what carbon dioxide is and how much it would cost to go carbon neutral, with Schumacher later admitting he didn’t know the answers to his questions.
“In the information age, we have got so many people on the big issues who prefer their feelings over facts, who prefer ideology over practicality,” Mr Kenny said.
“In many ways, this is our biggest problem, forget about the threat of artificial intelligence, how do we counter the rise of human ignorance in our major public debates?
“How do we get people to share facts and information, instead of feelings and fantasies?”

He is too young to know that weather is cyclical, we have our warm dry years and cold wet years. Where I live we have just had three of our coldest summers in 50 years, our worst floods in 50 years. Roughly 10 years ago some places had their worst drought in 100 years. Young people and those who live in cities have little or no experience, or knowledge of past weather patterns or the floods, droughts and fire that result. Those of us that lived through them remember them well. These temperatures are not unprecedented, many tell of the extreme hot days that lasted nearly 2 weeks in the late 1950's. Where entire towns slept on the beach to keep cool. We are not experiencing anything new. Someone just wants us to believe it is true.

Kenny is mistaken. Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is not less than half of a percent but is less than half of one tenth of a percent. And 90 percent of that is there due to natural processes, and because this gas is heavier than air most of it is at the bottom of the atmosphere where it does f all to warm the air but does a great job feeding trees, crops and vegetation generally. The concentration of this gas is in the sweet spot for vegetation and if it dropped too low our crops would starve to death and so would we.

How many times does it need to be said? Humans and human activity generate just 3% of CO2 in the atmosphere. The planet and everything else on it generates the remaining 97% of the CO2. Carbon Dioxide is a trace gas making up just about 0.04% of the air we breath which is a reasonably good level for plant life. Australia produces just 1% of human produced CO2 or around 0.000012% of the atmosphere. How does Australia make any real measurable difference in CO2 levels? In truth, it's just virtue signalling which may make a few people feel good but it costs everybody billions. In Australia's case, that's likely to reach trillions. And by the way, one volcanic eruption negates everything we as humans do to reduce CO2 levels for several years.

CO2 levels have gone from 280 ppm to 420 ppm in the Industrial Era due to anthropogenic CO2 emissions. That's an increase of fifty percent. Your 3 percent number is wildly inaccurate. According to the United States Geological Survey volcanic CO2 emissions are one one hundredth of anthropogenic CO2 emissions on a yearly basis. Congratulations. Completely wrong.

My bloody capsicums got killed by a minus 6 frost here in NZ even with frost cloth over them. Yeah I know. The point is, it's still autumn and winter has rolled in early. Holy hysteria, are we entering a new little ice age? Oh right, that's still warmer than this time last year. No, it isn't. Snow on the hills. Aussies welcome for the skiing season.

*CO2 is what plants breathe, just saying, the more you have in the atmosphere the faster plants will grow.* *Plants then expire OXYGEN that we need and balances things out.*

World temperatures of both atmosphere and sea are at their highest ever recorded in 2023 and increased by the highest amount ever recorded. Sea levels are at their highest level ever recorded in 2023 and have increased by the highest amount ever recorded. Many tropical countries are suffering their worst heatwaves right now.
