Rita Panahi speaks out against ‘disturbing’ torture of Moscow terror suspects

Sky News host Rita Panahi has spoken out against the “torture” of the suspects allegedly involved in the terrorist attack in Moscow, Russia.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack which killed 133 people.
Four suspected gunmen were later arrested and were allegedly tortured by authorities.
One man was allegedly subject to electric shocks while another had his ear cut off.
“I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion, but perhaps I wouldn’t be saying this if it were my family being murdered but this disturbs me greatly,” Ms Panahi said.

This is why at the end of WWII. The Germans ran west towards the US lines instead of east towards Russian lines. The Russians captured a German soldier and made him play piano. There are no proofs that they are real terrorists. There are no videos from the centre (''Krokus'' centre) where was the attack, from the main arena. Russia blame the USA and Ukraine. As always. And people, Russian people, who don't agree with such ridiculous accusations are being arrested. And those, who worry that there could have been participation of inner Russian law enforcement agency in that appalling terror, can be prosecuted either. If they were terrorists, or even had killed people, then I'd have some sympathy with your feelings. We should care for lots of reasons. Do you want to live in a society where you, your family or friends can be picked up in the street or dragged from their bed and treated like this? Even if you are not one of the unlucky ones, do you feel safe in a society policed by people who are happy to do this sort of thing - whether in a rational way, a psychopathic way or in a fit of uncontrolled rage? In a society where this is normal and accepted, where do you draw the lines? Torture for murder, late abortion, drug taking, rape, GBH, burglary, tax fraud, parking on yellow lines, misgendering, hate speech, ...? And, do you not want to feel slightly superior to terrorists? Shouldn't we care a bit more about them than they do about us, or are we all just the same?

Sadly they showed no mercy either. Many of us in the west find torture disturbing and don’t feel it is ever justified. This is an echo of our Christian roots - it is in our blood and you might deny it but it is true. What is also true is that this view is seen as a weakness and exploited by an evil in the world that we are going to have to face and challenge sooner or later. More probably sooner.
