Күн бұрынBE WARNED: IF YOU'RE NOT IN THE HOUSE BY THE RELATED THIEVES GUILD QUEST, DO NOT TAKE MERCER'S PLANS FROM THE TABLE NEXT TO THE DISPLAY CASE OF CHILLREND!! IF YOU DO, IT WILL RUIN THE THIEVES GUILD QUESTLINE TO A POINT WHERE YOU CAN NOT FINISH IT AT ALL!!
The unique weapon, Chillrend, in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
CHILLREND INFO:
- the stats of the weapon (base damage, weight, value and strength of effects) are related to the character level you are when you first enter the Riftweald Manor.
The versions are:
-- version1 (character levels 1-10) base damage 10 (when not influenced by any factor of skills or perks), effects: target takes 5 points of frost damage to Health and Stamina, chance to paralyze the target for 2 seconds.
-- v2 (levels 11-18) 10% more damage with 2x effects compared to version 1.
-- v3 (levels 19-26) 20% more damage with 3x effects compared to version 1.
-- v4 (levels 27-35) 30% more damage with 4x effects compared to version 1.
-- v5 (levels 36-45) 40% more damage with 5x effects compared to version 1.
-- v6 (levels 46-...) 50% more damage with 6x effects compared to version 1
- version 6 of this weapon has the highest base damage of all swords in the main game without DLCs.
- comparison of base damage: Chillrend (version6) 15 / Daedric Sword 14 / Dragonbone Sword (Dawnguard DLC) 15 / Miraak's Sword (Dragonborn DLC) 16 / Nightingale Blade 14.
- can be upgraded with a Refined Malachite ingot and the Arcane Blacksmith perk. Benefits from the Glass Smithing perk.

This sword is found in the basement of Mercer Frey's house, Riftweald Manor, in Riften.
Getting inside the house without playing the Thieves Guild questline is rather easy:
1) go behind the house (straight access behind the houses is next to the city gate)
2) the gate for the backyard has an Expert lock
3) go up the stone stairs, jump on the barrel there, then jump on the roof of the adjacent house
4) climb up the roof until you're leveled with the backyard balcony of Riftweald Manor
5) use Whirlwind Sprint to get on the balcony

Janitra Tantalus Yes. If you don't want to do what I do in the video, you need to play the Thieves Guild questline, which will eventually take you there.

Wish it looked like the Chillrend in Oblivion.. Same with the Blade of Woe looking like the Oblivion ebony dagger. Thought that would have been so cool to see a weapon I used 'hundreds of years ago' passed down somehow.

It levels to 46 level, and use it on my 81 level account, still useful because of paralyse procs, windshear just breaks the game and it becomes boring

***** Actually it's because the weapon is considered a unique weapon and is Blue. no only that but apparently unsheathing the weapon emanates a vapour and causes a constant hissing sound like dry Ice would. I understand what you mean but that happens with every single sword when you enchant it with the frost enchantment. Chillrend is just unique.

***** I had just tested it now using commands. and clearly the frost enchantment does make it turn blue. and to boot I also compared it to chillrend and still no similarities. the enchantment only adds a texture overlay onto whatever weapon is chosen. I'll even screenshot the two swords for proof and put it on steam under "extra chromosome"

Literally only grabbed this sword because the lock was Expert, and I assumed that must mean it's pretty valuable. Quickly became one of my favourites, alongside the Mace of Molag Bal (may have misspelt that), especially considering I'm usually an Archer-Assassin class who will switch out bows for spells rather than weapons. I can't help but use my Chillrend to paralyze people XD

As I show in the beginning of the video at 0:24, its not difficult to find the town, since its one of the main towns that are show in the map in the beginning of the game. So you can easily locate it on the map, place a custom map marker on it and start your journey there :)

If your planing on getting your nightingale gear do not take mercers plans on the table beside chillrend,s case or the girl i can barely recall her name but she will disappear and you cant finish the quest line i thought i should let every one know to save some trouble for some also if you take the mercers plans you cant get the skeleton key picklock

I think the Nightingale Sword is the best sword steals health and stamina so you can easily use magic in the other hand for distanced attacks and you can just lay into things and not get killed. Good fun.

+DubstepmastaFYI AKA DSM Also it depends on your level. If you get it when you were a level 10 or more the base damage isn't as good as Dragonbone sword but way less. If you acquire when you are at level 46 or more the base damage will be the same as Dragonbone sword.

Walter Adams No it doesn't, it has the same base damage as a dragonbone sword, base damage is what really matters because it also dictates how powerful it will be when improved, so if you improve it and a daedric sword with the same stats/enchants etc, the chillrend will get a higher damage per hit, only drawback is you can put what enchantments you want on your crafted sword, but chillrend has pretty good ones anyway and besides, who can be fucked to keep recharging enchanted weapons, I never do.

I wonder why my crafted Sword does more Damage than this one if all of you are correct. Bigger Number shown in stats, more Damage dealing against Enemies. Sorry, but this one, even if aquired with Level 80, does not exeed properly crafted Swords. Its only Power; comes from the effect, that it counts as ;Stahlrim;, which boosts the Frozen-Effect a little. It is one of the best Swords, true, but not the best possible.

Nothing you can do but load back to the point where you took it and don't take....otherwise you can't finish that quest line.

LOL I like how everyone is saying Daedric swords are better. But did you not understand the Video title? Like Unique?! As in ONLY ONE? I think many of us have Daedric swords already it's no surprise everybody has that and here we have this guy showing us quite possibly the strongest Unique one handed sword in the game and everyone talks about enchanted Daedric swords you can craft... Wonderful, as always. There was a bit of overzealousness with the entry to the manor, you can just as easily shoot an arrow under the platform to make a ramp fall.

- Randomly found from loot or enemy bodies, armors sold by blacksmiths or general store traders. - Silver-Blood Family Ring, from the quest "The Forsworn Conspiracy", which is then followed by "No One Escapes Cidhna Mine". Given by Eltrys, Markarth, inside the Shrine of Talos (under the Temple Of Dibella). - The Forgemaster's Fingers, from a misc quest "Find the Forgemaster's Fingers", given to you by any orc from an orc stronghold, before you are accepted into any of the orc strongholds.

Chillrend may be the most powerful sword, but a more powerful weapon is the Dark Brotherhood's Blade of Woe. Improve it to Legendary and max your sneak skill so you get 15x damage when sneak attacking with a dagger. For most NPC's it's a one hit kill. Using the Dark Brotherhood's gloves/gauntlets that give give you double sneak attack, you can get up to 30x damage. Chillrend is nothing!

I personally find Windshear to be just as useful. I use it along with my dragonbone sword. Deadly combo. plus (if I remember correctly) windshear's enchantment lasts forever without the need to recharge.

cool2001 its a sword which i belive is a bit glitched out every attack staggers the opponent but the enchantment says it should sometimes do it (i think so at least) you can find it at the very tip of the ship of the emperor

Maynard Ventura And all bosses in the game are 1v1... or atleast boss vs ally group. And bosses that aren't 1v1 you have allies that take aggro from the minions/adds for you (I.E. Tulius vs Stormcloaks). If you can't beat normal mobs then you should just go down a difficulty.

cool2001 Yes, because most likely on that character of yours you have more points in one-handed skill. If you go and get the best version of Chillrend with that same character, at that skill level, you can then properly compare the damage between weapons. The damage number seen in this video is relative to my charater's skill points and perks at the time of recording.

cool2001 If you have the most powerful version of the Chillrend, and its improved as high as possible (same improvement level as your other swords/daggers), it has the most base damage. If not, only way for it not to have is a mod that changes it.

Orcidea OK, I just upgraded it to flawless and compared it to my daggers. Chillrend is barely better than You, but Fuck is stronger than Chillrend, and both combined still surpass its damage.

Orcidea I sold chillrend as soon as I obtained it. It was pathetically weak against my custom swords. I obtained it at level 117 on 360 console. Fully upgraded with 100 smithing + 4 pieces of gear each with Smithing +25% and using Elixir of Smithing. The Daedric Sword is far beyond Chillrend when both are enhanced fully. Then I added Fire and shock enchantments to the daedric sword while having 100 enchantment and using Elixir of enchantment granted me +60 fire and +60 shock damage to add to the base damage of the daedric sword. Chillrend just doesn't compare. The glass sword is not the base weapon for the most powerful standard weapon in the game. Sorry but you have this one incorrect.

Yes, both. Extra Effect perk for Enchanting will allow you to put 2 enchantments on one weapon/apparel.

Im not sure what you mean, but all my tutorials are always played with normal difficulty. So this is adept. Also, weapon versions dont change by difficulty mode.

The mechanism under the balcony can be used only if you have activated the related Thieves Guild quest. It wont work in any other situation. So you might want to reconsider your comment.

did you know the key to the balcony entrance was soppose to be a 30% drop rate for Geralda the kind in the Heartfire dlc (I think thats the name of it I don't remember) the sword is a play of words on chilldren and the way Geralda treated them.

Only if you take the stuff on the table next to the display case for Chillrend. I was supposed to check this fact out, but didnt have enough time before me and my wife left out of town for this weekend. I had the same problem with the quest, but I had picked up every item in the basement. I will check this out when I get home tomorrow, and make sure that it works if you simply leave all other items stay there.

It depends on your One-Handed skill. Higher skill will give you higher damage. Then you have to of course improve the sword as well, for higher damage.

You can improve it normally, but at level 16 you got the 2nd version of the Chillrend (versions 1 to 6). The 2nd version has worse damage and 1/3 of the effects, compared to the 6th level Chillrend (available at level 46 or after). Example: - version 2: base damage 33 (One-Handed at100 + perks, without improving apparel), improve to Legendary = damage 63 - same setting, version 6: base damage 45, improve to Legendary = damage 75

If I spawn a dragon with console command, it is supposed to burn and gain me a soul (tested tens of times). Its just a glitch in the game that they dont always burn..

Yes, 1920x1080, highest possible settings with FXAA. And now I have some graphical mods to make it even better looking ;)

It can not be leveled to better version, it stays at the level it is when you get it.

Question. If you set foot in the house and is low leveled does the sword stay as a low level or if you level up and come back later will it scale to your characters level. Edit: okay I luckily i remembered the game just autosaved right before I lockpicked into the manor so now I know to just wait for like weeks until I'm above lvl 46 to hopefully remember that this sword is in riften 😂

Ebony War Axes with frost and fire damage (Extra Effect perk for Enchanting will allow you to pout 2 enchantments on one item).

When i upgrade it it doesn't say legendary it says flawless and it doesn't improve much. What should i do to make it better?

I understand that. You have to remember that I play games and edit videos as a profession nowadays. I can not have any medium level hardware, or my work would be compromised. I need to be able to play all games with max settings with 1920x1080 fluently, AND record it at the same time. For that, you dont get there with 1000€ ($1300), with the price level of Finland.

Im not responsible if you watch videos like this. Its more than obvious that a tutorial will pretty much always have some spoilers about the topic. Dont watch these videos if you want to be completely spoiler free. - Other than that, I hope you found some of my tutorials helpful anyway :)

That works only if you've started the related quest in Thieves Guild questline. My way works whenever you might want to get the weapon.

There is a mechanism under that ramp...you can use a spell or a arrow and it will drop the ramp do you can get up there

Yes, of course I know that. As you said, it only works if you have started the related Thieves Guild quest. By the way shown here you can get in there whenever you wish :)
