Will this movie tower above the rest of The Rock's catalog? What are you expectations? Let us know in the comments below and thanks for watching! One: Speak up and join the conversation- we encourage respectful debate. Two: Respect your community- racism, misogyny, homophobia and hate speech aren’t tolerated. Three: “Be nice.” - Dalton from Roadhouse

ScreenJunkies News I need to know if they acknowledged his magical prosthetic, or did they just make you assume it gave him superpowers?

I thought it was a fun time at the movies but I don't think it's going to be a memorable film that people will talk about a lot in the future. It's Die Hard meets the Towering Inferno and they needed a little something extra to make it unique so they gave him a prosthetic. What's strange is that the prosthetic didn't actually add anything to the movie. It barely gave him an extra hurdle to deal with because he ran so well without one. There were only two times in the movie that it actually save him. Again, it's was a fun time at the movies but it'll probably just fade from memory.

These days I just think the rock does these stupid movies to keep his name value in the press sky rocketing and because it's usually a better time for him when he is the biggest name in the movie and the movie draws just from him I.e. Tom Cruise style.

The problem with the rocks latest movies is that these movies will not age well. There just generic action movies and that so sad.

That's why I like what JTE said, the Rock needs to find a good director/scripts. I'd love to have the Rock be in some classic a/b-movie action films, like Schwarzenegger in The Terminator, Predator, Total Recall, etc. Not all of them are amazing films, but they are memorable and re-watchable.

The Rock's movie career is frustrating. Here is a guy that is perfect to be the Schwarzenegger and Stallone of this generation. Yet he just cannot get a roll that is on that level. The only thing I can think of right now is that Hollywood is just so different than in the 80s and 90s that it cannot make a good action movie that person like the Rock deserves.
@triplehood
@triplehood 6 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think that the reason for that is that the typical 80s and 90s action movie simply isn't what general audiences want anymore.

I just joined AMC A Plus, so I decided to catch a matinee of Skyscraper, a movie I normally would have passed on. I found it cringe-worthy for two reasons. One, I spent a good portion of the movie covering my eyes when they had people in peril over huge heights (I have vertigo, what was I even thinking seeing this movie)? Two, I'm pretty good at suspending my disbelief, but there were too many things that The Rock did that were physically impossible even for a non-amputee and the wind at the top of a 100 story building is insane, at 200+ stories everyone would have been blown away like leaf. Completely ridiculous. Oh, and Sarah just runs off and leaves her son who has got to be completely traumatized with strangers without even giving him any comfort. A+ parenting there.

As much as I love The Rock as a person...I don't really believe he's a great actor or that he's getting much better. Like Dan and JTE said, he's a superstar in the way that old school Schwarzenegger was in that he's a box office draw, but you never buy that he's anyone other than "The Rock" when he's on screen. As with Keanu Reeves, he's only really good in the right properties. If its action or a buddy comedy, then he's great. Beyond that, to me, he struggles. In fact, the best "dramatic" role I've seen him in was the lesser known film Faster. And in that movie he didn't talk. He just looked menacing, he carried a big gun and he angrily drove a fast car. If you were to ask me, Dave Bautista is the wrestler-turned-actor whose actually doing a much better job of not only picking what properties to attach himself to, but of stretching his acting legs. Not only is he lovable as the comedic Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy, but he's not shabby dramatically either. Let's be honest with ourselves. Even though it was a bit part, could any of us see The Rock doing a better and more convincing job than Bautista did in Blade Runner 2049? I don't honestly think so.

I give the movie a solid C+. Not bad but nothing that's going to light your world on fire. It's an entertaining 2 hours, but not going to think about it too much afterwards. It's basically a movie designed for you to use your moviepass or other subscription on.

You know why these studios don't care if it's a quality movie because they are being shown in China and depends mostly on the international box office especially China. By the way we don't always need to feature China in the process, good movies can hold their own in America

So, checked out the audience ratings on RT and this movie has a 79% audience approval rating. I started clicking on five start audience ratings reviews and almost all of them had a broken link. I think the issue that Dan was so angry about surrounding Gotti and fake audience reviews may be wide spread.

Got to say this about Skyscraper; meh. How can a movie this silly take itself so serious? What happened to the humor that really helped Rampage and slightly helped San Andreas? This movie was humorless. And way too much CGI; didn't seem that real. Never actually felt that scary or dangerous either (and I saw it in Dolby). Rampage was better than San Andreas; and San Andreas was better than Skyscraper. A disappointment; I was looking forward to this one. Didn't expect a great movie; but a fun summer action movie. This is not that fun movie. Maybe next time Dwayne.

It's a shame that such a great movie star keeps on working so hard on essentially a dead genre. The disaster movie. Wouldn't it be great to have a film with Dwayne Johnson where people can say "isn't this a great movie!?" Rather than "isn't Dwayne great IN this so & so movie!?"

I can honestly say that this is the stupidest movie I’ve seen in years. There’s hardly any action in this action movie. It’s so bad that it’s actually insulting. The fact that a studio thought anyone would enjoy this movie shows just how stupid they think we are. Even for a Dwayne Johnson movie, this is really, really bad.
