Skyscraper Scaffold Tear Down

While moving our daughter in NYC we enjoyed watching these construction workers doing a great job tearing down scaffolding from a skyscraper across the street. ‪@hausplans‬

I've worked in construction. Those guys are athletes to do that for hours. The building looks like it's 250' to 350' high. And anything can come screeming down, stay over to the street side. A bolt will go thru your hard hat and more. It's good work, and outside. As the 101st says, Stay alert and stay alive.

Been working on facades for years in NYC and its amazing to me how many people dont know and couldnt care less about what goes on above their heads- most people dont even look. I think its awesome that you cared enough to watch. Its certainly impressive and a very cool industry.

I did it the year I got out of high school, I left for my dads company doing HVAC and hopefully be a refrigeration tech, great work.

scaffold guys don't really get any credit as a legit trade, those guys have every bit balls as an iron worker does in opinion

It depends. I did scaffolds inside of giant boilers, sometimes 200' tall or more. From a heights perspective, it not bad. Moved on to commercial work with exterior scaffolds and it's a whole new ballgame. Something about being inside makes the height no big deal.

As a kid I was a steeplejack in NYC and built many scaffolds, worked steel & Bosun's chairs. Then in Miami drug-cash boom - built some of the most iconic buildings. Oh, what do I do now? I'm an exec in currency derivatives trading on Wall - I traded one form of risk for another.

It’s quite impressive indeed, I saw this in real life as well but when cutting down a tree between caravans on a camping so they cut the tree in chunks and lowered them the same way

Used to hate rope n wheel but it gets easier after a week or two, striking is easy on one get a rag in your hands lol
